WoW wants me to update my bios for intel 14th gen processor.. can I just ignore this?t

Seriously what kind of issue are we talking about here? Is this something I can ignore and play anyway or what “instability issues” are they talking about? I havent found any threads talking about this specifically.

sure you can ignore it. But the reason they are telling you is because you are subject to a major Intel bug that is killing your processor.

So do as you wish.

You can look up intel chip issues and it will tell you the steps you can take to fix it.

I’ve had no issues with any other game or program. What’s the deal with WoW being special here? Is WoW doing something to cause my procssor to “kill itself”?

Yeah, it’s a pretty significant flaw in the processor, not specific to WoW. Ignore the warning at your own risk.

Its not a matter of if, it is when. You will experience them. Better to act sooner since it seems you have minimal degradation so far.

I ignore it. I have had it before and it just went away with a patch at some point. I just started having it again over the last week. I just ignore and it still launches. Just don’t hit play again after you click the box to ignore it . Mine lags just a sec before it launches the game. May be no more than normal, but I don’t really notice when I don’t have to hit something other than play

Intel has no update though

For more clarity, it’s an issue with the processor not regulating its voltage correctly and causing damage to itself over time.

it isn’t hard to update your bios though

this is a bios update to stop motherboards from sending to much voltage and frying your CPU. probably shouldnt ignore it.

In all seriousness, update your BIOS. Big issues with the new gen chips…

I live only a couple miles from several intel campuses and I still buy only AMD.

No you should not ignore it because there is an actual “defect” with 14th gen Intel chips which under certain circumstances draw too much power and cause damage to the packaging and substrate. If you want your computer to remain intact you should do the update and just eat the small performance loss with the new power settings.

normally I say don’t update bios unless you have a specific need.

in this case, it’s actually warranted and people should, in general, do the update.

It’s more or less on the level of a product recall, just that they’re able to fix it via a patch so that step isn’t necessary.

regardless of what people are saying…you should not ignore it…13th and 14th gen chips are problematic…also updating your BIOS is always a good thing.

They’re not going to recall anything. They’d been fighting against influencers and whistleblowers online for over 8 months to first try and cover this up and then try to create the impression it’s not nearly as bad as it is. But it’s bad. Very bad.
