Do you think we can expect to see WoW VR by 2030 from a sight seeing ‘tourists’ perspective?
I don’t expect it to be VR that includes raiding, pvp, questing etc by the end of 2030. However, do you think Blizzard will have an experience type of VR mode for WoW where you chuck on a headset and roam around the world viewing the scenery etc?
I have a better idea, why don’t we just plug you into the matrix, all we gotta do is put you in the game, it’s just that simple man.
More than likely not. VR is very difficult to develop and a lot more costly. If they were going to do this, it would be a VRChat ripoff way of socializing while probably trying to pander to the old WC3 battle net days of like D2 chatrooms. Simply because that would be the widest appealing thing for people rather than a fairly niche piece of hardware that is in all honestly probably going to remain niche for a very considerable while.
That said, VRChat itself has really low resolution models and is still fairly choppy. The technology just really is not quite there to support it. Another factor, video cards. You need a decent one for VR things on a PC to feel comfortable. That already puts a hefty pricetag on something and obliterates a large potential return if people just can’t use it so they don’t buy it. Which if you don’t think is a big deal, this community had their pitchforks out over a year ago because Shadowlands tried to have an SSD as a minimum requirement. SSDs, those things that are obnoxiously cheap right now.
VR equipment today is like having your xbox controller plugged into your PC back in like 2006. Where at the time it was a few people maybe had a controller for their PC prior to about 2012 when more games with Steam and in general began to normalize controller gameplay so now it’s far more common to hear of someone with a controller on their desk.

unless it looks like the cinematics lol no
theres only so many times i can look at cardboard trees and the primitive graphics
I dunno man, I was looking at these graphics in this VR game and thought they look pretty good. Which made me think it’s possible to do it on WoW just as a sight seeing single player experience.

I’m thinking we’ll have some tourist mode by 2023-24.
I’d be surprised if VR was even in a position to make full-fledged games besides the one in a blue moon that they get.
VR even after all these years is mostly Tech demo games

I wouldn’t bet WoW lasting that long.
VR is silly, and I have huge doubts that current display technology will ever be widely adopted as a headset. I don’t think we’ll have technology that can produce an adequate VR experience by 2030. Strapping an LED panel to your face is just annoying in general and most people can’t tolerate it.
I’d finally be able to give everyone an actual hug and pet all the fuzzies
Probably not a real solution as there are no NPCs, but there are some map conversions of different areas in WoW in VRChat.
So if you have a headset and feel like exploring, hop in the game and search warcraft under worlds.
Just avoid like everything else in that game. It gets a bit… icky.
My problem with VR is that I don’t tolerate even normal headphones for long.
VR will damage people’s brains, people who play too much will forget how to walk and think pressing there thumb will move them places
“No”, but they are saying I must have more letters.

I wouldnt want VR… I want my keyboard and mouse
Honestly, I would be surprised if WoW even exists in 2030.
Making WoW into a VR-compatible experience is most likely orders of magnitude to difficult to be even remotely worthwhile. You’d have to tear down the entire game and literally rebuild it from scratch.
Which would make it… WoW 2.
Only if it’s something they could do in a mobile app by then.
