I agree. While I waste my time on WoW it used to be fun and entertaining. Now Im just waiting all this time gated and borrowed power grind to end until I can have any fun at all. Same road waits for my 11 alts for each Class.

I think he wanted to say “a game should make you want to waste your time, not make you feel like you’re wasting your time”
But yes, your time is being wasted. On anima and soul ash and the occasional gear drop with bad stats

If you feel your time is being wasted then do what you deem will not waste your time. For Pete’s sake, quit wow and take up gossiping, explaining yourself to others, checking your email obsessively, and of course, antagonizing others for sport.

I get cool, new things occasionally, so I don’t see it as a waste of time. Now Avowed rep beyond honored. THAT’S a waste of time, unless you’re Venthyr and you really want the mount.
I feel like wow used to be a game involving work and play. And the work and play went together and was fun as all heck. Now it is like, i can pretty much have or do anything in want in this game, as long as i open my wallet.
Paid boosts for those who hate lvling straight from blizz. Microtransactions here, microtransactions there.
Paid stuff with in game currency, usually thru group finder, for gearing up or torghast skipping purposes. Power lvling. There actually used to be a time progression gearing up metric that was work and fun all at once playing wow. Now it is microtransactions.
I am one of those peeps that pretty much plays retail like i did in wrath of the lich king.
Do each dungeon twice. Play through most of the zones with the quests in order to lvl up. Discover zones and flight paths. Discover dungeons. Wait till lvl 40 for 60 percent speed mounts. Lvl 20 for dual wield on dual wield toons. Lvl 40 for my goblin shaman to learn dual wield. The list goes on and on, and to me it is much more fun.
Also, no pet battling or exp from the gathering proffessions or pvp. Does not exist in my book for lvling. So i actually see barrens chat in retail where as most players do not.

It did waste your time. But it was time well wasted. Alot of the old school players feel like wow now wastes your time in a way that isn’t really that fun, but people like me tend to play traditionally, which makes it fun for us still
I think there is nothing wrong with wasting time at that point, as long as the time you wasted in the end was meaningful and fun to you. Most people would argue that they just feel that modern wow is a waste of time, and is boring and means nothing now, but so much has changed. Times have changed.
I mean, i was on my warrior, my original warrior from like 2006, and i flew through the barrens. So many flight paths i could choose, but i chose vendetta point. Why? Because it is basically the new camp taurajo flite path for me. I still only choose to use 3. The xroads, ratchet, and camp taurajo flight paths.
I think this is one of the reasons i still sub and play retail wow is because i cater the experience to myself, and recreate it in a way that still provides the progression tropes and fun stuff that i miss. I have a ton of time logged on my old toons, but you just have to work harder to make it fun. Not everyone is able to do this either. Just not worth it. And for others it is irreversible change that you cannot recreate no matter what you do.
