Singapore ISP (m1) Bad Lag between 7pm - 1am on WoW Oceanic Server, basically unplayable.
Im getting 1000ms ping - 10000ms.
Completely unplayable, and this is the only free time i have to play WOW.
Getting really ridiculous.
Please advise.
PS: Im really not looking to spend more money getting a vpn.
Doubt it’s your internet, but there’s somethings you can try to optimize your connection.
Try reaching out to your isp to check their peering to the ASC cable ran by Vocus? It definitely sounds like congestion during prime time, but unfortunately no means for us players to test thos connections.
I personally don’t feel is our local ISP issue.
I am using M1, indeed, every night is unplayable.
From Windows Resource monitor, look for WOW.EXE and look at activity.
The IP Address is shown and I use it to tracert .
The result is as follows:
Tracing route to 155-197-115-137.r.airtel.mw [137.115.197.155]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 2 ms 1 ms 9 ms 192.168.0.1
2 4 ms 4 ms 6 ms 1.64.245.49.unknown.m1.com.sg [49.245.64.1]
3 4 ms 3 ms 4 ms 6.246.65.202.unknown.m1.com.sg [202.65.246.6]

The next tracert is bad either.
I don’t think our local ISP is having the problem, as you can see, the next work first hop is from my router, and then to ISP , finally towards your destination.

I hope I am wrong, I will do a tracert route in the morning, and let’s see what’s the result.
unfortunately I cannot attach any screenshot.
I fixed it by using a vpn. not sure if its my isp’s routing is complete rubbish, or the oceanic server issue. I can’t seem to find another way except by using a vpn (exitlag) for now.
Have reached out to the my isp many times already. Sadly.
here is the thing, this has been going on since the end of season 1, start of season 2. massive reports of this have been sent in on this exact issue. Blizzard blames it on you, the tech mvps blame it on you but your ISP will bluntly tell you once you reach the lvl 3 tech’s that its not a you issue but a blizzard issue.
tens of thousands of ppl have been dealing with this issue for over a year and no fix has been mentioned. yes a lot of us have gone the VPN/GPN route but we shouldnt have to go that route in todays age! its 2025 not 2004!
if we the players can pinpoint the problems to blizzards end as well as our ISP and narrow it down to a singular or multiple nodes, cough cough thats a blizzard issue.
SOrry for the rant, just tired of seeing these pop up over and over again and yet nothing happens. Either a mvp will comment and say its a you problem or it goes unanswered.

This. I don’t know what’s going on but this has been happening for a long time. Same since last expac. After certain maintenance/patches like this one it’ll really start to flip the freak out so bad it’ll drive you nuts. Then it’ll slowly peter out and calm down a bit over the following weeks & months but the connection’s never ever truly stable for long.
Every now and then at times like this, I’ll come check back here and see others having the same issues with no solution.
The crazy thing is I had a much MUCH better overall connection to WoW in 2004 on ADSL. Now all our lines are fiber with 1GBPS being literally the slowest speed available idk what gives.
So I just try to play on US West like it’s 2004 as much as I can and stay the heck away from OCE. It sucks man.
Blizzard does not control the internet. If their servers are online, that is where their responsibility begins and ends. This is the same approach that other gaming companies employ.
Generally, you can solve connection problems with a VPN unless the problem is happening inside your home or neighborhood. If that doesn’t help, you should focus your energy on either troubleshooting the PC itself or speaking with the company that makes the connection possible (your ISP). Only they can have conversations with routing peers you may encounter issues with on the path to Blizzard’s servers — not you, and not Blizzard. Getting upset with any other company besides your ISP makes no sense and is a waste of your time.

Same ISP but it started happening to me suddenly, starting this Friday. But, I can play in the early mornings, around 7-10 am, and onwards, I cannot play anymore because world latency got super high. I mean, I would like both parties to look into the issue, because the thing is, I can play fine on US realms, with the same ISP.
Just a little extra information.
My realm: Frostmourne
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060
Location: Singapore
ISP: m1
Problem description: High world latency player in OCE realms later in the day (10 am onwards ), can play fine early mornings.
You’re describing saturation, meaning too many people using the same connection path that you are. Blizzard has no bearing on that. Additionally, since there’s no tech support staff here in the forum, there have been no mentions of contacting ISPs in almost two years, so I don’t recommend holding out for that.
I mean, if there’s any way for us to troubleshoot so that we can point the fingers to them. They have very little information to work on. Hell, they might not even know what the World of Warcraft is :))
Sounds like M1 related, thought I was the only one.
I’ve got the same ISP, same experience since beginning of last thursday.
high latency from 10am +8 timezone to pretty much rest of the day , nightime is basically unplayable
8600g IGPU, Linux, WoW on Bottles.
might have to resort to a VPN if this keeps up.
has any of you guys contacted to M1? What’s the response? I am just tenant at my unit so I am not sure if I can straight up complain to M1 or not.
I have the same exact issues as you guys.
Same ISP M1. Can’t figured out whether it was just me. Started last Thursday evening. Thankfully I have Nord VPN. VPN-ed to australia and my ping drops back to normal 90ms. This can’t be the only resolution.
Just saw this thread and hoping if anyone can share other possible alternatives.
Thanks
Turns out I can play fine on US realms. I just joined US realm group from frostmourne, finished a dungeon. It was fine. Seems like M1 to OCE realms connection.

I am in Malaysia having the same problem and its getting on my nerve right now. Never go to battleground u will always be boot out my teams. Why should i pay more when the time i supposed to play, its not playableeeeeeeeeee… basket.
I suppose US realms are much more reliable than OCE realms. I am considering creating new toons there already. Ping isn’t that bad.
Having to deal with similar issues in the early days of Wow with a certain green colored ISP , I’ll say the chances of getting hold of a L2 in an ISP is almost non-existence, support will point you to the upload/download speed test which means absolutely nothing in this context.
I’ll get some VPN to deal with it if it drags on.
You’re correct - US based realms are ok, just that I haven’t invested in any playable toons in those.
update: gotten Mullvad wireguard as a bandaid. Using their SG nodes, latency below 90ms
Update : I’m playing on frostmourne server. Last night 8pm to 11pm was fine, was playing between 80 to 100ms without the need for VPN. I’m hoping that this will just be a temporary phase. Fingers crossed.
If you’re in Southeast Asia there are damaged cables Singapore Malaysia and the Philippines are having connection issues due to damaged under sea cables.
There is an ongoing internet connectivity issue in parts of Southeast Asia, particularly affecting Singapore and Malaysia, due to damaged submarine cables. That can affect also affect Australia as they are moving the internet traffic around those cables
Current Situation
- Damage to Submarine Cables: A major cause of internet issues in the region, including Singapore and Malaysia, is the damage to undersea cables, leading to increased latency and connectivity problems.
