If my account is inactive, and I buy a token (I have enough gold in game for the token), does it immediately add game time? Or can you buy now, without a current subscription, and save it until later?
I pre-ordered Shadowlands, and don’t really plan to come back before then, just curious if I can buy a token now and save it until then?
You have to explicitly redeem the token for game time, it doesn’t happen automatically. So you can buy one now & save it.
After you’ve purchased a Token from the Auction House, right-click the item in your inventory to open the Redemption window. You can choose to redeem your Token for 30 days of Game Time or $15 of Blizzard Balance.
One thing to keep in mind - you can’t use a character boost on a character that has a token in their inventory, so it you plan on using the 120 boost you get with Shadowlands, buy the token on a different character or you’ll have to use the token before using the boost.

If you can’t log in or use the ah due to lapsed game time, I believe purchasing the token from the character select screen applies it immediately.
If your sub is inactive, it will ask if you want to buy a token for game time, which will start immediately. If you keep your gold on a level 1-20 character, you can log in and buy tokens anytime, which is what I do. If you call blizzard support, they might let you log into your high character for a day to buy tokens.
Can you still use the ah on a level 20 if there’s no time left on the account?
My bad. I’m unsubbed just tried can’t use the AH to buy a token, but my character does not have gold so not sure if that changes it. Also, I have like 5 tokens in my bag. I thought I did that a couple months ago but i could be wrong. Taking a short break to play another game. I got all classes to 120 a week ago and need a break after power leveling three characters.
