I’ve never bought or used a wow token before and had a question about them i was hoping the community could answer. If i buy a wow token and have it in my bags/bank/warbank for later use and my game time runs out will i be able to redeem it for game time in the future, or would my account have to have current game time on it to add to? I don’t wanna buy one with the intent to take some time off and then find out i can’t use it like i thought i could. Also, does its storage location matter, and how would i redeem it out of game if my account was out of time? Any clarification advice is welcome, sorry if this is a silly question. I tried googling it but wasn’t getting a clear enough answer to feel confident in my choice.
If you already have one, yes you can use it in the future if your time expires.
This is how I have always done it, I always have at least 6 or so in my bags.
To buy a token to pay for game time once your time has expired, you’ll need to log in to a realm that has enough gold to cover the cost, this is where the “REALMS” at the top of the log in screen comes into play. You must have enough gold across characters on ONE realm, and none of it can be in your Warbank.
when I returned to wow, I didnt have a sub, but it let me buy one with my gold from the login screen.
so you’re going to be able to use it if it’s in bags is my bet.
will it count warband gold or is it character specific with the gold used to purchase it?
if you have either the coin or the gold you will be able to renew the sub, although the token is $20 but the sub is $15 so you lose money
No, it will not.
You may have missed my edit above.
You have to buy a token off the auction house to use for game time. If you mean to purchase with real money, it can only be sold on the auction house and can’t be used for game time. But once you use gold to buy one off the auction house, you can keep it in your bags and use it at the login screen if your game time runs out.
ahh, gotcha, yeah i missed the edit, my bad. Thank you so so much for clarifying though, i really appreciate it!
I believe we are talking about using a wow token to get game time, not purchase a token via the WoW shop to sell on the AH for gold.
i have seen cases in which people used money to get tokens and then just stay in their bags . then when it’s time to renew they use them forgetting the price

"Starting with The War Within expansion pre-patch, all your characters are shown in a unified character selection screen. However, gold from characters in different realms do not contribute to your total gold when buying a WoW Token: the gold must all be in one single realm.
In addition, gold in the Warband Bank does not currently count to buy a WoW Token."
