So, everyone seems to be panicking about WoW Tokens in Classic.
STOP.
The single waved around screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/3OANbUO is being taken completely out of context.
Firstly, the source is someone who is pulling the Classic UI packages out of the current CDN build and comparing them to the live game copy.
Secondly, every single UI package has been updated to a ‘11300’ interface ID, whether its been touched yet or not. This includes the WoWTokenUI.
Thirdly, there are no other changes to that package, just like many other packages.
This does not mean that the WoW Token will be included with the game. It means they haven’t done the work yet. A lot of addons still need to change. If anything, this explains the lack of a beta, because anyone who started up the client would panic the hell out, because they haven’t stubbed off all of the 8.x interface yet.
Calm the heck down…
Side Note: In reading what they have done I saw a few things that give me joy, like that the Exit Vehicle button no longer checks for “CanExitVehicle()” and only checks for “UnitOnTaxi(“player”)” meaning the only use for that button is to short-circuit a multi-leg flight… just like Vanilla.
There was no such button in vanilla (and TBC and wrath at least), you had to log out (which was instant on taxi) and back in to get that effect. But yeah, if it is now that would be a “change” I could get behind.
Oh you’re right. They added that in WoD. It’s been so ubiquitous to me, I forgot when they added it. But yeah I would guess they’re going to keep that simply because you can log out and log in to get the same effect, like Mailboxes and Open All.
Also just because UI exists in the code base, doesn’t mean it will be used anywhere. Pulling out content like the wow-token UI can be a very dangerous thing. You never know what else is touching that on retail. At the very least we as players know it touches the character select screen, shop screen, and the auction house. I wouldn’t be surprised if the final code base for classic has lots of BFA functionality that never gets called. Its the danger of rebuilding classic on the current client. But still better than updating an old client to include all the battle.net updates.
At the very least we should wait until we have a beta client or an announcement before we start freaking out lol.
Which is why it’s probably going to stay in. Why force characters to relog, when they can keep a function in that accomplishes the same thing without the relog?
It also looks like they’re putting older style tutorials back in too, and removing all the “Communities” elements. (Or at least separating the Guild from any Communities changes).
Will be interesting, since they’ll need to have some independent BattleNet element for your communities/groups.
This is the only one on the pile that doesn’t start out with panic though.
There is another thread for anyone who is capable of reading to latch onto
Theres are stickied posts that say things like ‘content plan’ yet people still ask about it on occassion.
Your post does little and in a few days when its gone, someone else will stagger in and make a post.
What’s it matter if someone makes another thread on something?
Why is this one so special that you’re complaining about it being made but not going to the other threads?
