Create new mount and sell it for astronomical gold price on vendor.
Create new Expansion feature and require even higher gold price to unlock it.
Things like this force players to do repetitive farms for months to earn enough gold.
But don’t worry Blizzard has made it easier to obtain gold for those inflated prices, a WoW Token!! Just pay real money for that Expansion feature you already bought and pay monthly to access to get a WoW Token!
I like it, sign me up!
More like Gold Transfer from player to player. There may be a tiny bit of gold generation due to guaranteed pricing.
However, it is also something Blizzard has deemed okay and within the rules they make. All you can do is not purchase tokens if you are against them.
I’m gonna blow your mind right now but you can, in fact, just make your own gold.
If Acti-blizz stopped doing WoW Tokens, RMT sites would just take over that demand. Lots of elicit transactions like Piracy and game RMT are actually just service problems. Tokens give people a way to safely do something they were going to find a way to do anyway.
The token exists to combat third party gold sellers and gold farmers, who used to hack accounts consistently.
Don’t like the token? Make your own gold. They didn’t change the economy.
Hot take indeed.
Any examples here?
They are referring to the fact to unlock all tabs of the new warbanks you need 3.1 million gold i think or close to anyway
Gold sellers hate this one simple trick!
Procure things people want and sell them for more than you got them for.
repeat
Unless your posting in the wrong forum - your about ten years to late to make a case against WoW Tokens. They have been part of the WoW ecosystem since 2015.
We had insane gold synchs even before they introduced the WoW Token. I remember spending weeks farming for the gold required for my first epic mount. Then in BC five times that amount for Epic Flight. WoW tokens don’t inflate prices - natural game economics inflates prices.
WoW Tokens don’t create gold. They merely transfer wealth from one player to another in game in a secure fashion.
Not having WoW Tokens wouldn’t reduce the prices of items in the game because the gold that people get for WoW tokens was already in the economy. If anything WoW tokens reduce the inflation associated with super high value items as people with expendable gold buy tokens for bnet balance, otherwise that gold would be in the hands of the original individual giving them more buying power and driving up the cost of those items even further.
The gold selling that takes place through third party services has been around since before WoW existed and it would only be bolstered by WoW tokens going away and would go back to creating high security risks for not only those who still would buy gold but also would introduce more incentive (as the value of gold would go up for sellers) for those companies to bot and farm gold more than they do today. I remember how bad the gold farmers were back in the first few expansion of WoW. Almost any good place to farm was dominated by the exact same characters day in and day out constantly farming gold to sell.
That doesn’t even consider the fact that inflation is inherent in the game. Most players earn more gold than they spend and each day they play their wealth grows just a little bit more. That buying power (via supply and demand) is what drives the cost of things up.
Things like the exorbitant cost of warband bank tabs are healthy for WoW. Again wow tokens don’t create gold, playing the game creates the gold. These gold sinks take gold out of the economy and acts as a deflationary pressure. These gold sinks are typically for things that are useful to a few but uneccessary to many.
I know how to do it, I was just trying being funny. And I failed.
The WoW token was always about Blizz selling gold. The sub pay gimmick is just there so we can pretend it isn’t RMT.
You made my day brighter.
That’s a success in my book.
This topic is new and exciting and hasn’t been done to death since the token was introduced several years ago . . .
Or just run Pandaria LFR in the regular game lol
I don’t believe anyone has ever argued that WoW Tokens aren’t RMT.
Ah, gotcha.
