Prices typically spike around an expansion launch and then drop soon after. It’s been a common occurrence. They will fluctuate a bit and then level out. Probably around 120-130k.
More spikes around larger patches will occur. And the process repeats
This xpac feels like its harder to make gold for a lot of people with the new crafting system so more and more people are opting to buy tokens now so it makes sense.
I would say this is a large part of it, aging player base with less time to sink into crafting etc. It doesn’t help that specialization mistakes are permanent and require even more farming and time to try to correct.
Just call it like it is, the population is tanking hard and the demand just isn’t there anymore.
I logged in about an hour ago and on my “high pop” server, I was, quite literally, the only one in Valdrakken.
Then I flew around on my Drac alt to level a bit through mining/herbing and across 2 zones, I only ran into 3 or 4 other people, who were also gathering.
No questers, no call outs in zone chat, nothing but crickets.
PCgamer already confirmed DF sold over 4.8 million copies, so the lowered token price is clearly more players buying tokens. Towards the end of SL, when everyone tapped out while waiting for DF to release, tokens spiked to nearly 270,000 since no one was buying them in the real world but there was a high demand in-game since players could buy DF this way.
The way I see it DF has been a great success. If we see it drop below 100k, that just further confirms DF as the GOAT.
Well, I didn’t see any updates that contradicted it. I kinda feel bad for the Chinese players as WoW is actually still really popular over there. It’s just getting moved out because of Chinese laws (that severely limit play time) and due to that the company watching over WoW in China isn’t making as much money.
