WoW Token and Store interface files being updated for classic?

Corresponding Reddit Thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/bk20no/blizzard_updating_wow_token_files_in_classic/

Not sure how i feel about them updating the store and token interface files, as i thought the store wasn’t going to be in the game at release and the token shouldn’t be in the game at all.

Worst feeling.

Two things…

  1. For Pete’s sake, don’t put a URL in the Title, use Preformatted Text to add a link in the body of your post. Like this: http://null.com.

  2. What ever you linked has been deleted (which is normal for Reddit troll posts), so we have no idea whatever you are saying is true.

I mean let’s not jump to conclusions here my dude. This could just mean they are adding a shop feature on the login screen to get a token on one of your characters on BfA if you run out of time.

They obviously won’t put it into classic.

Corrected, for some reason when posting it didn’t allow for links in the body.

Looked at the pics in that thread, still not convinced those are legitimate. Reddit posters are notorious for going the extra mile to troll people.

Just looked at the pictures.

They can’t add it for two main reasons:

  1. Arbitrage - It could allow people to essentially transfer gold from retail to classic and vice versa.

  2. Gold Farmers - They were a part of Vanilla. If Tyr’s hand isn’t full of them, where will 90% of the 360 no-scope neckbeard pvp videos come from?

“Updated” includes updating the client to remove them. All that did is change the Interface ID to correspond with 1.13.

From what I’ve seen theres a lot of leftover files from BfA in the new Classic beta client so I think its safe to assume that not everything there will be in Classic WoW.

It looks like Blizzard just lazily copied over all the BfA interface files to get a quick start in a working client, there probably going to work on removing some of that stuff.

Boolean? Well, let’s wait for the blue post.

It means that the addon is always loaded, instead of only loaded on demand. It does not mean it will never be loaded… quite the opposite.

Either or it doesn’t really matter. The tokens not being put into classic. This thread is pointless either way

Lets be realistic here. Including tokens is one of the dumbest decisions they could possibly make.

Just because a token can be purchased from the Blizzard store via the Classic interface. Does not imply a token is usable in Classic.

They wanna sell tokens for BfA to Classic players meh.

It looks like they are trying to sneak this in. You can see in this video that the files were updated one day ago, and since we are so close to release and it’s already being tested internally that it is likely to go live.

I seriously hope not. In all honesty, and I know there is a lot of hyperbole about quitting the game, but I would not play Classic WOW if this actually goes live. I quit playing months ago and only came back when I heard that there was a possible beta test coming. I have zero desire to play retail WOW and I have no desire to give any money to Blizzard if the cash shop and tokens are integrated into classic. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t happen, but after seeing the Diablo 3 RL money auction house, the numerous mounts being sold on the cash shop, the free mount when you buy 6 months of subscription time when it looked like BFA was going to be a flop, and the Diablo Immortal fiasco I just can’t help but feel that a legitimate classic experience wasn’t going to be tainted by a cash grab at some point. I just figured that Blizzard would at least wait a few months before they spring it on people like they did with DIablo 3.

The panic is real.

Is this them possibly trying to remove the store? I haven’t looked at the files, so I have no idea.

Maybe the store will be there and it will include one item, realm transfer. Maybe they’ll add a collectors edition that offers the Vanilla CE pets?

I’m not worried, if Classic launches with anything other than those items above, that’s the end of my interest in WoW and Blizzard. Pretty simple.

Vote with your wallets, store items beyond Vanilla items should be a deal-breaker for anyone who is looking for an authentic experience.

Though modern Blizzard is daft, I don’t think they’re that daft.

Gives me a pretty bad feeling knowing that this is in the beta files, and that the files were also updated. It would be nice if they cleared some of the air that way we don’t have to worry in complete silence.

Clearly noone here has ever done side by side development.

It’s a common practice to have an empty file for a disabled component, so that you don’t accidentally deploy an active component because no file existed on disk.

All they did was update the interface ID in the table of contents. Until you can show the content of the XML file as containing the component you’re just guessing.

The biggest takeaway from this is we now know the interface ID for the initial Classic Release.

Havent they been very damn clear about this? You can use your retail coins to add to your sub, so you can use retail gold to buy sub time and use that sub time to play classic, but you cant buy tokens with classic wow gold in classic.

Just like now, if you login to a classic server and have no sub active, Im sure the icon will appear next to your characters offering you to use your BFA gold to buy a sub token from the character select screen…

Are we really going to waste a weekly blue post on making them once again clarify some nonsense we already know? I really hate that… I seriously do…
