Wow.. timewalking was fun, this week was not

It wasn’t hard exactly, we didn’t wipe or die or whatever. But it ended up taking forever. Things were running smoothly not that long ago, why all the sudden are these dungeons taking so long?

I mean spending 7 minutes on boss encounters seems a bit much if everyone is following mechanics; its repetitive at that point, just have to hit the pinata until it falls over.

Its making me not want to run them.

Unless you’re a new character in need of gear. Skip it, for the rewards are not worth the effort.

I mean I’ve been slowly working towards purchasing the toys and mounts. I don’t need the gear anymore.

I’d also like the infinite timeweaver too. But this…

Don’t pad their time played metrics on a boring, tedious slog of an event. The mount ain’t worth it.

It wasn’t this bad before though. Did something change

Since the corruption patch they have been horribly scaled. I fear the effects when we lose 70 levels for the prepatch.

and people go nuts if you add “overtunned” to wod tw’s.

they are not welcoming for their own purpose… it’s balanced around having a geared max level… it’s not welcoming fresh 120’s or people that want to level doing tws.

Wasn’t that slow for me in term of time to clear a dungeon (still went faster than in Wod, bosses really melt), but the stat scaling is lower than expected. About 10% haste for someone that stack it, hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Kinda ironic, for it’s the people who need gear that queues up for it.

indeed it’s very ironic right now I suggest only queue once for the 500 badges and move on… unless you’re farming the tw mount on that 0.5% drop chance it’s just not worth it.

If you farm out a Mirror of the Blademaster from Hellfire Citadel, your runs will go a lot smoother. The trinket is absolutely broken and does a ridiculous amount of damage.

Incoming nerf

Timewalking has never been balanced around being a fully geared max level character. The entire reason they allow you to queue as a character who still isn’t at the cap and scale down your gear so everyone has the same ilvl and power regardless if they got greens or epics is BECAUSE it wasn’t meant to be balanced that way.

“Borrowed power” from BFA and Legion is new. It is a crutch Blizzard came up with because their overall class design has been abysmal since WoD launched and they pruned everything. They realized every class is a mere shell of its former self and give you temporary toys to make it feel like you’re still powerful and useful.

The thing is, it’s terrible design and it is highlighted exactly why it’s bad when you step into timewalking. These dungeons were never made with “borrowed power” balance in mind. They were made for classes that had all their natural abilities, passives, and procs given to them while leveling. Not waiting for things to only be unlocked when you’re 500+ hours into your max level.

This week it’s just miserable. TWing in general feels awful with mobs having way too much health. It feels like it’s been this way for all of BFA. I’m not saying we should be 2 shotting mobs, but these dungeons were easy as hell back in the day and never took this long.

TW is fine. It’s supposed to mimic the feeling of the heroic version of the dungeon when it was current. This bit with paper thin mobs that die in two hits is particular to the end of an xpac where you’re insanely overpowered.

And I still had no trouble last night. Even if I reliably did 1/3-1/2 of the group’s total damage.

I agree with Xyrtran, cuz when I ran with a group fully geared it wasn’t a bad run at all BUT when I took my new 120s poorly geared with other liked players we really struggled even though we all knew the fights. Very frustrating with the lower geared ones.

But they don’t mimic at all how they were back then. wod heroics were very easy. They were much more difficult in challenge mode.

Not at launch they weren’t. At the end of the xpac, you could solo them, but at the beginning, they were hard for full groups. Small pulls, CC and deaths were common.
