TL;DR: Blizzard has gone back on their promise to make WoW more friendly for casual/world content players and have now widened the gap between the ilvls of casual/world content players and mythic+/raid players, making the game less enjoyable for casual/world content players.
In the recent video where the streamer Preach sat down with Blizzard, Blizzard stated Dragonflight was going to be friendly to open world content, casual, and alt character players for the first time and not force them to do mythic+/raid content to increase their gear ilvl scores. Not only did they remove daily world quests for these players, time gate the LFR system from these players, and not make renown/rep account wide (which time gate locked gear upgrades for alts), but now these players cannot even get weekly gear upgrades from the new once a week world boss with its high ilvl loot because it’s low RNG and not guaranteed drops unlike the Trial of Elements and Trial of Flood Events were before it (not to mention they just removed the PvP WM ilvl 385 PvE upgrade vendor). Blizzard has now gone back on stating WoW being world content player, casual player, and alt player friendly and are now forcing these casual (the majority of their playerbase) and world content players to have to now do mythic+ or higher end raids if they even want higher ilvl gear upgrades for this week which is now widening the gap between mythic+/raids players and barring entry from these casual players from even trying the mythic+/raid content in the first place and will keep getting worse every week due to the Great Vault weekly high ilvl loot for only the mythic+/raid players.
The current world quests that have rewards for gear is extremely low and doesn’t even go higher than ilvl 363 which is 9 ilvls lower than mythic 0 (with a weekly lockout) and 13 ilvls lower than Mythic +2 and LFR (that Blizzard disabled this week, and they can’t even do). The super rares that drop high ilvl loot even have loot tables where you get drops that you can’t even use and the new Primal Storms event is dropping extremely low ilvl loot (ilvl 359 on an 8 hour rotation and 14 ilvls lower than once a week mythic 0) aswell which is not even an upgrade for the mains for the majority of players and the Storm Sigils for the LFR ilvl 385 items are time gated and only drop once a week per invasion with a low chance and you can only obtain four Storm of Sigils per week, (i.e. you need 14 sigils to get a 2 handed weapon) while you can just spam mythic+ all week long, so it’s basically useless to help gear casual/world content players up to a competitive level against their mythic+/raid counterparts. Blizzard has now broken their promise about finally listening to the majority of its players and have now widened the gap between the ilvls of casual/world content players and mythic+/raid players.
Now you must have a high ilvl, logs, DPS meters, high previous season 4 raider io score, or hardcore guild of friends with all the right addons installed to even increase your ilvl for the week by being forced to do mythic+ and higher end raids. If you are a casual/world content player, the game is now no longer for you. Welcome to Elitist Jerks.
Due to the concerns I have addressed and no response by Blizzard on making this game less elitist and toxic for the last decade, I have now cancelled my WoW subscription and will be looking forward to the release of Riots new MMO by Greg Street, maybe he will be the one who at least listens, unlike the former guild leader of Elitists Jerks.
there is a lot of world content I like this expansion. I would have preferred to do world quests for my rep but I have pretty much finished the renown grinds I wanted to have on my main.
And what exactly would that better gear do for you when you can already do all the open world content?
I never understand the complaints like this. People want to play open world content to get drops for what? How much gear do you expect to get? You can already get insane gear from open world content anyway. I’m getting 3ish pieces of 382 loot every day from open world content. You can get a 389 ring and neck, 398 cloak, Titan matrixes to craft good gear, spark of ingenuity crafted gear, and all the gear you can ask for from super rares. There’s tons of gear to be had without ever stepping into a dungeon. I’d actually wager the gear you can get from only open world content is far better in DF than it has ever been…
I will be raiding first tier but generally play solo open world most tiers due to RL being prioritised over the game. From a solo players perspective…
Flood/Ele Trial = good in concept, bad in execution… if they were a solo scenario which rewarded you the longer you survived, I think they would be great!!! As it stands RNG spawn timer for secret chests just results in shard hoping to find one that is up (which really feels like a broken thing to do).
Dragonbane, hunts and feasts… great content, the world could do with more of it!!!
Reknown thank you for the rep scaling perks for alts much appreciated.
DragonRaces: needs more depth and rewards attached. Its a great feature, would love to have PVP races for honor and/or some kind of battle system… that world quest quidditch rip off could be interesting.
Primal invasions, just did the first one this morning… should be 372 > 385 gear really, 359 sets the bar way too low… the set bonuses might make up for it ifthe are super OP in outdoor world.
LFR - no reason to time gate this other than to be punitive to players who see this as end game… would love to hear blizzards reasoning for this (my gut feel is they just view normal to mythic players favourably over casuals, so want to slow casuals down/make sure normal to mythic enjoy their toys first).
The new trader system coming soon could be good… but you can complete it in M+ so its just another slap down to casuals since its not its own progression track for them.
Exactly. I will never do dungeons or raids since I will have to put up with “elitist jerks” who complain and moan about everything and if you get one thing wrong, instead of teaching the person so they become a better player, they just kick them.
I’m a casual and as far as I’m concerned, all of you can keep the damn gear from raids. I have no use for it. Just let me enjoy a dungeon in peace and not go go go.
Other then that, I’m enjoying the game, just with no dungeons and raids.
So, let me get this straight. You like a certain type of content. Other people like another type of content. You think the people that like the other kind of content are elitist jerks.
Remind me - how long was the wait and did they do it by wings on it’s initial launch and has it ever changed over the years? I wonder if you’ll realize this.
The fact that preach got down from his high horse on a high horse on a high horse on a high horse on a high horse about “NEVER COVERING THIS DISGUSTING COMPANY AGAIN!” only to brown nose ion harder than lore could ever hope to… and then having the devs make him look like a gullible idiot not even 2 weeks later makes me all warm and fuzzy inside
Yeah it’s tiresome at this point, especially if you want crafters going. Noticing also that you spec’d wrong and can’t change it. DF went from hero to zero for me quickly.
The only good thing about the new professions system is the ability to commission people that exploited the renown system to get the tasty recipes early. Now I don’t have to bother with renown ever!
But bruhv, I’ve been killing world bosses weekly for 93 expansions and legit got a 394 piece WEEK ONE BOOIIIIII!! I said to the group, “Your chances of loot dropping is contingent on being the least useful member of the group!”, so I smacked the boss like four times and got a 25+ ilvl upgrade to my chest piece.
TLDR: You don’t understand RNG for boss drops, you don’t understand Renown account wide unlocks, you listened to people in trade chat and reposted it here.
