So here I am, grinding for months for some cool blimp mount. Ya know, its purple. It’s a blimp. It flies. It’s not the most common item out there. I finally get my 1k tickets, hand it in, aaaaaaannnd…
My character is floating off of the mount and holding an invisible steering wheel that’s nowhere close to anything reasonable for it to grab. They’re just up in the air like that. When you hit water, the model just bugs out and you tip upwards towards the sky. At certain swimming angles you just go nuts.
Okay, okay. Not that big of a deal. It’s fine. At least it isn’t OH MY GOD THAT SOUND. Like, the flying machine mounts were always kinda cool but the sound they made was loud and grating and super annoying. Sky Golem seemed to be a nice middle ground where it wasn’t blasting your ear drums but okay. The Dirigible? It sounds like someone remastered some old audio from the TBC flying machines, badly compressed it, threw it into the system, cranked up the volume, and called it a day.
Just gonna throw this out there. People like this game for rewards. Ya know what feels bad? Disappointing reward systems. For some reason people aren’t too keen on bringing this up, but something people love is how their character looks, and cool stuff that few others have. The game got a lot more connected and it made accomplishing these rare feats easier, and hey, I think that’s okay, but so many rewards have just been disappointing. The HoA was nothing compared to the artifact. The Allied Races often having very little customization options, and some (like the Nightborne) are just flat out busted (in terms of missing animations, clipping, etc). Some just flat out get more attention than others, in terms of power, customization, etc. Raiders are getting homogenous, boring armor and, hell, if you’re an Alliance member you’re used to the memes about the crappy horses.
This silly mount is just an example of just how lacking rewards structures have felt as of recently. We went from a relatively polished expansion like Legion to just buggy models, clipping issues, and overall rewards that just fail to satisfy. It feels bad working towards a cool mount that I’ll probably never use because it’s just grating and buggy and annoying to look at. Especially after working for quite a long time to get it.
