I’ve been experiencing weird texture glitches while playing WoW recently. Sometimes when I start WoW and I’m on the character select screen a piece of armor on my character will start flickering, start flickering on the actual appearance of the character or random parts of the landscape will start flickering and doesn’t just happen on the select screen but in game as well. I’ve tried changing settings by setting the SSAO to good and changing depth effects to good which does solve the issues that I’m having but from logging on today I saw that I still deal with these weird graphical glitches and not sure what to do.
I have the game installed on an External Hard Drive, my laptop specs are GeForce GTX 1050 Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz, 2801 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s). I have my display set by 1920 x 1080 and I have my graphics driver installed to the most recent driver. I haven’t experience any WoW graphical issues my whole time of playing WoW since BC till now. If anyone has any idea on what I could do to solve this please let me know and I appreciate anyone who has took the time to read through this.
Your post gave me some validation that it isn’t only happening to me. I was just about to look into doing a game repair or fresh-install since this issue only happens with WoW. Drivers or graphic settings specifically for the game may be a possibility but cannot confirm. I don’t think it’s a temp issue either since the game barely uses any GPU power according to Windows’ performance monitor (I’m using a GTX 1070).
If anything changes or if I’m able to repeat the issue after tinkering, I’ll let you know.
I did also do a fresh install and scanned the game and none of those options had helped my situation. I was told by someone in my guild that these graphical issues could be due to having an old graphics card due to the high graphics causing a strain on the graphics card and she then linked a download of a 442.50 graphics driver update since she was told that this driver should solve the issues I’m having. I’ll let you know if this helps me out and hopefully it’ll help you out as well
I’ve had the hair doing it for a while. The other day…day before maybe…I noticed the patch of fire left my hot foot in visions was flickering or just showing a grid. Then I noticed when my DnD was about to run out it would flicker. And today I was in Boralus and the clouds were flickering on. I’m glad it’s not my video card or anything but I am sorry to hear that others have this too.
Just to add a data point, I’m not seeing anything like this with a 5700 XT under macOS Catalina, so this might be a Windows bug or Nvidia driver bug. I have a Windows partition I can boot into and test with if that would be helpful.
I mentioned in the other thread this has been happening to me too and in RDR2 as well as WoW. 1080ti, no changes to drivers but windows update does what it wants
Same. It was actually going to justify a 3080 or 3090 or w/e Nvidia winds up releasing at the reasonable top end for Ampere. I’ll probably do it anyway
If one thing is exploited everything needs to be patched
Some company might have an 8700k as a cheap server setup because cheap
That doesn’t mean it can’t be an exception because constant exploits
Intel is forcing the update so they can’t get in trouble, If you don’t like that well… At least with ryzen you can take full advantage of pcie 4.0 on that 5700 xt
For those with an Nvidia card, I saw a blue post that recommended using Nvidia drivers version 442.50. Only a couple of hours of testing for me, but so far so good in RDR2 and WoW.
