Blizzard is obviously reluctant to add new specs to the game because it’s one more ball they’ll have to juggle forever, so they should normalize adding some temporary specs each expansion that are themed around the new content and which get removed once the next one comes out. This would be a great way to add some seldom seen class flavor back into the game, provide more fresh content per expac, and allow Blizzard to experiment without being tied down with long term comittment.
For instance War Within could come with Shaman Stormwarden, Paladin of Beledar, and Rogue silkspinner. These could show up, maybe becoming unlocked after certain achievements from quest progression, and then go away once they’re no longer plot relevant.
The evokers weren’t that big a hit with dragonflight and no doubt their number is only going down from here, but Blizzard now has to maintain the class indefinitely. Imagine though if the aspects of the dragonflights instead manifested for the different classes. There’s a lot you could have done with Mages and Druids that xpac but it was all just left on the shelf.
Mmm, I see what you’re getting at but since they’re moving away from expansion-specific power systems and such, I really don’t see them doing expansion-specific specs or classes.
They’ve consistently added new classes over the years. They’ve overhauled and reworked many specs over recent years. And Hero Powers in some ways are fulfilling additional specs.
This is basically what Artifacts and Azerite and Soulbinds were. A secondary or tertiary power system that players have to grind, only for it to to be ripped out and replaced with a new one each expansion.
No thanks. I’d rather they stay the course set with Dragonflight and TWW by expanding on the Talent Trees and Hero Specs. I expect in Midnight they’ll add more rows to either the base trees or the Hero trees; maybe even adding entirely new Hero Specs. IMO - the less temporary and the more evergreen, the better.
That literally does not describe this at all? It’s a spec, it’s not tertiary and requires no additional grinding from what you’d do if you picked a different specialization.
but no, most people don’t want borrowed power and grinding azerite/renown again for 0.0001% power increases daily back again. its been all over the forums with thousands of upvotes on reddit and forums.
Literally have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s just a new spec, there’s literally nothing different about it than Retribution or Frost. It doesn’t fit what you’re describing at all.
