WoW should be a clone of FFXIV but with WoW models

When they come back for 9.1, have they truly left!?

Don’t kid yourself.

WoW is the original that all still try to beat. WoW still has millions of players playing from all over each day. Each person has their own opinion and can play whatever they like. WoW does have it’s issues but WoW would not be WoW if it starts to copy another game. You want to play a game like FFIV? Then play FFIV and stop demanding that WoW change to something else. Never understood why people think they can demand that something change to their own preference.

I agree they could learn a lot from each other. I also think competition is great maybe it will push the WoW devs to do better.

I am so done with e sport system of WOW it has become such a turn off to the game.

I use to love PVP and dungeon grinding what they have turned it into now is just TRASH.

I am now on day 3 of my Ff14 journey and loving it so far.

honestly no, WOW needs to be WoW in its best form, not try to copy ff14

the reality is that ff14 and WoW are VERY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES

YES WOW HAS A LOT OF NONSENSE LIKE REQUIRED CONTENT, but if that was not in the game, what would we be left with?

just good ol world of warcraft

i dont play this game for it to be like ff14, if i want ff14 i log into ff14

i want WoW to be WoW

Personally, I didn’t mind Aurum Vale, especially in its pre-nerfs state (as things then felt more dangerous, rather than just annoying). It was at least unique, even if by no means a stellar design.

I just mind every single dungeon being hallway, gate, hallway, gate, boss, hallway, gate, hallway, gate, boss, hallway, gate, hallway, gate, boss.

What’s wrong with Aurum Vale? It doesn’t seem particularly horrible to me. To be honest, I prefer it to the Shadowlands dungeons.

I just wish the excuses for the changes weren’t so disingenuous.

And the weird part is the average XIV player who’s never touched the gutted job is all to quick to accept those excuses, even while any actual MNK/NIN/MCH/AST/DRK main can easily point out just how idiotic those excuses are.

“Greased Lightning wasn’t working, and so it was time to call it quits.”

  • …Yet with proper play it worked just fine for all of A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood. It only stopped “working” when you started adding absurdly long in-fight cutscenes and not pausing buff durations over them.
    • At most, it needed only to fall off one-stack at a time, rather than losing up to 18 seconds’ worth of wind-up all at once.

“The varied cards were nice, but people only ever wanted to draw the direct damage buff.”

  • …Because you made it so superior to any other card.
    • You literally could have buffed Arrow (Haste) by a mere 2% effect and it would have then been preferred by Monk, post-opener, and BLM at any time, atop being useful on healers. Heck, you left the Critical Hit card at less than half the effective DPS bonus value of the Damage card, just so that it’d fit the same 10% effect. An added 10% chance of 40% bonus does not equate to a 10% damage buff.

Etc., etc.

I found it really amusing during the first day on the Ast changes I ran a dungeon with three melee so drawing the ranged card and only being able to buff myself just felt like a dead card and with the smaller card draw it just increased the chances of me pulling it.

Sure, in raid scenario I’d never have a dead card but if you wanted a more traditonal support you had White Mage and Scholar.

I’d also just like to mention White Mage Holy spam…

You should leave too.

WoW was, in part, a clone of FF11. Things have come full circle.

Even at level 80 every FFXIV dungeon is run down a hallway, pull half the dungeon x2, boss, repeat. The only time there’s any variance in dungeons is when the game literally will not allow you to do that by putting a wall and forcing you to kill a “miniboss” that does nothing.

Speaking of graphics,

Nah not at all. Took that one while leveling through Stormblood on maxed out settings and the game looks like a PS2 game everywhere outside of cities. It’s even worse when you’re moving because the game has literally no anti-aliasing option outside of FFXA so whenever you move the ground, bushes, and trees are literally nonstop shimmering.

I actually have a folder full of these screenshots but don’t want to spam the thread with them.

Also on the topic of community, I have realm hopped to the top servers on Primal (I play on Hyperion and have gone to both Famfrit and Exodus) and nobody talks in this game outside of Novice Chat which you will eventually get kicked from by the game unless you grind out Mentor status. Zones are dead, nobody talks in shout unless there’s a rare train farming, hell nobody even talks in say chat. The extent of player interaction in parties is people going “o7” at the start and nothing the entire dungeon / trial unless you wipe then people start raging.

Just ignore the White Knights, that’s what everyone else does.
Forums need a downvote button again.

I don’t think WoW should be a FF clone, but there are a LOT of things they should adopt.
For example, as I type this I’m listening to two bards play “Smoke on the water” in Gridania on their electric guitars.

Just that by itself… think what WoW could do!
Just using the vehicle interface with an in game toy and some sound effects they could add any number of instruments very easily, but they wont.

WoW used to innovate and pull in things that other games did, and then do them better. Now they stack systems on top of systems until it’s a huge mess even they can’t keep up with.

And WoW is dwindling, but not to irrelevance.
I expect there to be a slight bump in WoW for 9.1 before everyone leaves again for Endwalker.
Being number 2 is still pretty good… of course number 3 is runescape.

As players were actually in a pretty good place. FF14 is kicking up it’s game bigtime, and WoW will have to do the same (hopefully soon). No matter where you come down on the whole FF vs WoW thing: this is great news.

Or just play both games and deal with it.

See, muted him.
How easy was that.

Imagine being so spineless you cant deal with seeing disagreeing opinions lol. “I NEED MY ECHO CHAMBER”

If I could have WoW’s combat and QOL and mix it with FF14’s narrative, I would be in heaven.

Glad we can all agree that wow should copy FFXIV

Nah, if that was the case then Blizzard will have finally succeeded in making me quit after 16 years. Both games have their perks, both have their negatives.

Having them both be the same would make what’s left of the MMO genre deadpan boring.

It’s hard to express to people how much more intuitive FFXIV classes are. My paladin in that game feels more like a paladin than literally ANY game I’ve played, except maybe D&D Online back in the day.

There’s no competition for FFXIV Monks, they are true S-class design. No other game comes close.

Also, I find it a little embarrassing that the so-called ‘weeb’ game not only has the best Archer and Bard in any MMORPGs, but the professions to deck out their entire fantasy, including mystic bows.

I don’t mean this to sound condescending, but so are WoW classes after only a few days. Granted, you can power level a character in retail to 40th or 50th in no time, but in the low teens and twenties, you have (maybe) four abilities in your kit?

Check this. Monk is at ~7min, Ninja is at ~8, and Dark Knight is the last one. Actually, check them all if you want to see all of their abilities. Ironically, Black Mage looks boring, but they hit ridiculously hard. Not much will last the barrage they show here.
