Hopefully not. :+1:

Lets hope not. The current game is more of a marketing tool then it is an actual gaming experience. Why go and get gear when you can either purchase gold and buy runs (which flood any sort of group channel) or buy cool cosmetic sets to transmog into. Did I forget to mention that there’s almost always a “sale” going on with in game items that they just have to let you know about.

“Depends on your definition of ‘in’”

That WoW store will probably be there. At least at the launcher. Possibly at the character select. Maybe even in game.

It’s what you can DO in the store with Classic that matters

More than likely will be to purchase game time with gold and character server transfers. To buy goodies FOR in game? Probably not.

realm transfers
name change

whatever other services that arent game-breaking, will most certainly be in game.

I can see Realm Transfer and Name Change being a thing (These services weren’t around in Vanilla, and you either had to request to a GM or a GM would force a change upon you should it be against ToS), but nothing else.

Maybe Faction Change, but I’m not so sure on that one.

I really hope not, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard forces the devs to shoehorn them in.

For a game built on community and reputation, both name changes and realm transfers WILL break the game.

something is going up for sale, and it isnt just the subscription. the business model is microtransactions, not subs.

NO. And, by the way, you don’t want to do that, either. You think you do, but you don’t.

No by no means do i think or want the in game shop in classic. I wish we could get clarification from blizzard.

I don’t think the ability to buy gold from WoW is that big of a deal. I would never do it, and I look down a little on those who do, but the reality is that anyone who wants to buy gold will be able to do so no matter what. It’s just a matter of from whom, Blizzard or third party gold farmers. You can’t fight economic forces. At least if WoW is doing it, it helps get rid of all the in-game spam and resource camping by farmers.

But I don’t want to see all the pets and mounts and crap for sale, and I especially don’t want to see transmog and skins for sale. Classic is all about community and EARNING your gear and appearance in-game. It’s VITAL that the meritocracy dynamic be preserved. It’s one of the main things that differentiates Classic from retail, and one of the main reasons people are so excited about Classic.

Blizz needs a public relations win right now. Hopefully they will give us a clean, pure Classic to help right some wrongs with their fan base.

I don’t want to see it, but I wont be surprised in the least when I do.

Hopefully not.

But no one knows yet. If Blizzard thought they could get away with it, they absolutely would. This is why I hope they have people with a real old-school mind working on this thing.
