Wow Servers with high latency from Singapore to Hong Kong

Hi Blizzard Support team,

I’m reaching out to you as my latency is consistently at around 170 to 200 ms from Singapore to Frostmourne . I find that the latency is a little too high for gaming - especially with this hop - 202.84.138.46

In addition, I have checked with my ISP, and this was their reply :

The network path to 103.4.115.248 (AS55497) is very limited.

They do not have many upstream peers and are not in any of the local peering facilities in Singapore.

Blizzard (AS57976) also does not advertise their network through peering facilities and no direct route is possible at this time.

Would you be able to help?

I find that ISP reply very suspect… Blizzard hosts in Equinix Sydney…Equinix is very big, and there’s an Equinix in SG as well, I’ve been there lol. But of course, not all ISPs have peering agreements with everyone. In MY there’s no direct connection as well, there used to be but now it all goes to HK first. So I just have to use a VPN to get a more direct route.

FWIW I have to do the same thing from Tokyo. I didn’t have to in the past but something changed and it is night and day with a gaming VPN. (I didn’t play a ton in BFA but I feel like it changed sometime after patch 8.3.)

Unfortunately, this is mostly on the ISP’s part, and partly Blizz as well. Not many “critical” services are hosted in Aus, so ISPs generally don’t pay for better peering and routes to Aus.
