WoW Retail crashes on launch - Error #134

Hi All,

After update, my WoW Retail kept on crashing with the below error,

D51FDA53-509D-4AC1-97A6-FF2B36E38566

My laptop is 13-inch Macbook Pro 2012 Retina with Intel Core i5 and 8GB RAM. The OS is 10.15.7 Catalina.

I have yet purchased DF.

every x86_64 mac user is probably crashing, because blizzard decided people with smaller brains (ARM mac users) are important than people with bigger brains (people who use real computers and don’t get swayed by inaccurate marketing)

Hi Sir,

Oh I see. I tried to log on WoW Retail again and got a different error upon crashing,

5C3D0456-E64F-4EC9-9375-BB0F56870BBB

I am going to play WoW on my Windows computer now.

it will change every time it crashes.

that string you’re posting is just a unique identifier that will get sent to them with the log, it won’t tell us what the actual problem is.

to do that, you need to share what is in retail/Errors

but i suspect it’s going to be something very similar to what i have. there is some problem with the game’s new video settings.

Same. Crashes before opening. Basically locked out until they patch it or I buy a new Mac.

Yeah, not going to buy a new computer just to play an already underwhelming new expansion.

Was willing to give it a try, but not if I can’t get in.

WoW Retail has fewer than 2 million players now, don’t think WoW will survive past DF.

the funniest thing about these POS m1 macs is they’re already for sale quicker than people think.

a lot of buyer’s remorse out there when people realise just how crippled ‘rosetta’ is. of course there’s a bunch of bagholders on macrumors/appleinsider forums raving about how these things are jesus in microchip form.

i will never touch an M1 mac. i am in the same boat as others here: if i really want to play games i’ll use a windows machine or console (i only say the latter because today lazy developers have 150GB installs for FPSes which is crazy!).

this is outrageous. blizzard has known about this problem for some time and just pretended they fixed it:

https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/known-issue-causing-crashes/386955

unreal. the europeans have been up in arms for this for a bit.

Same here. Mid 2012 16” intel retina MBP. No problems running SL yesterday. As soon as I updated to 10.0, I can’t get the game to load. Crashes as soon as I hit “play” in the launcher.

They’ve known about lock-ups and crashes on Mac computers for months but nothing has really improved (that I’ve seen). I have an iMac and a Mac mini, both machines repeatedly crashed on beta - today’s live update is no different.

So much misinformation here. It has nothing to do with intel versus arm. Intel works just fine on newer macOS versions.

It’s fact that you’re all on 10.15. I doubt they even tested 10.15 internally. Support policy has always been latest plus two previous

Latest is 13, two previous are 12 and 11.

That said, they’ll probably fix 10.15 compatibility cause I don’t think they intended to break that one on purpose, they only fully dropped 10.13 and 10.14

However, if you are on a mac that can upgrade to a newer macOS, you probably should…

That isn’t what the dialog box presented says, regardless. So better communication would seem a necessity.

I’m sure they’ll fix 10.15, but anything older is probably a long shot. they said 4 months ago nothing older than 10.15 would be supported. But because they did say 10.15 would be supported 4 months ago (because at the tie 12 was latest and previous 2 would be 11 and 10.15), they’ll likely want to honor it even though that changes with macOS 13 being released.

I wouldn’t expect a fix tonight though, i imagine it’ll be looked at tomorrow.

I’m having the same problem running 12.6.1 on a 2013 Mac Pro. The game does not appear to load at all before crashing. Considering that 13 was only released 2 days ago, I don’t think this is due to having an out of date OS. I was able to play the pre-patch beta without any issues.
