They still have a Mac tech support forum so I assume WoW is still supported to the OP I’d say give it an install and see how it runs you can play without paying up to level 20 if I remember correctly.
the general rule with macs is that the more powerful a monitor they have - whether it be ray tracing or 4k or whatever - the worse your performance will be…
this is because alot of your mac’s power is going to be used on the display, so you’ll have to run wow at almost minimum settings for decent performance.
also mac laptops are especially not great for wow because they really tend to overheat when running a game like wow.
i used to play wow on an iMac and the computer would get so hot i couldn’t touch it, even when i limited the FPS to 70 or so. (and i had a top of the line iMac at the time, last time i played on my imac was like legion or so before i just got tired of the poor performance and very high temperatures)
basically the bottom line is - if you do play wow on your mac, and the mac is capable of running it at max settings, you will still want to keep it at almost the lowest settings with your FPS capped around 60-80 to limit the computer’s tendency to overheat.
my recommendation is to just not play wow on a mac laptop, if you play wow alot then your computer will be at very high temperatures for prolonged periods which could end up damaging it in the long run.
So what you’re saying is that you havent the faintest idea what a modern post -Intel Mac performs like and have no place even commenting in this thread.
To the OP - the M3 series integrated GPU performs slightly above a desktop 3080, and slightly below a 4080 laptop GPU, which you’ll find many Intel laptop gamers using. It does this running cooler and quieter than any Intel laptop I’ve ever seen.
It’s a fine machine to pay WoW on. Does mine beat my desktop i9 with 4080? No, but its a very good alternative and if its the only machine you have it’ll perform fine.
try install and see if working but if not have to ask Mac support about M3. it won’t hurt to try it.
my Mac Pro 2013 12-Core Intel Xeon E5 I know this old but still good.
The existence of Mac support for Wow obviously says you’re wrong.
Do I have my Mac for gaming? Of course not, I need a Windows PC for that. But I am answering the OPs question, not getting into some stupid platform debate with someone who hasn’t used one for a long time.
To answer the OPs question again - if its the only laptop they have it is more than sufficient to play WoW at high settings.
I’m not on a M3, but a M1 Max. I used to set my graphics to 6, and performance was decent. A few weeks ago my raid team required everyone to use the Liquid weak aura pack, and it slowed things down significantly. I configured the graphics settings down to 4, which helped a little bit, but FPS performance is still only about 50. I think the Liquid weak auras are CPU bottle necked though, not GPU.
With an M3 things will almost certainly be better though.
Don’t believe that guy who says nobody games on a Mac. There are at least dozens of us.
