It seems funny to us that have been playing for a long time but I remember when I first started playing again it was a little difficult on certain quests. Like others have said wow head and youtube or google search is your friend.
You can always just do the hunts. Blood thirsty Centaurs who just kill everything then move to another area to repeat. Says some sort of nature balance hype afterwards but really they move because theres nothing else to kill, youâd thin- heeeeey, thats just like us murder hobosâŚ
What many people are complaining about is the Path that some quests take you on in a convoluted method. Sure you will see the quest markers and arrows for what you are following right now. But you are not told that to even see/talk to, the next quest giver in the chain, you would of have done like 20 other quests in a previous quest chain. On top of that. So you get to the next quest giver in the quest chain but canât continue because he wonât talk to you. This could be because you are not the right level or have attained a special achievement or need to earn more reputation etc. These are things you would not know. So you stand their dumbfounded as to what to do next. Hence going to Google in hopes you could get some help. But that doesnât always give results.
Not to mention the quests that are glitched. And have not been fixed for a long time. Or having to do a dungeon to compleate a quest chain, but you can no longer have appear in your dungeon finder because you may have out leveled those dungeons, or got a new expansion etc. And cannot solo the dungeon. So now what? These are just real problems players face when doing quests. The Arrows and Markers canât help with bad quest design.
Yes those websites do help. But then the question arises that how good is the quest designs of Wow devs if people must go outside of the game to third party websites to learn how to do a particular quest? What does that say about the quest designer?
You wouldâve loved vanilla.
âGo kill this guy for me. Heâs somewhere.â
I feel like you are just unfairly comparing 10 year old quests to recent made quests.
Yes I played since 2004. Before that Everquest. I do appreciate all the wonderful things Wow have given us the players over the years. And how good the game is and the questing is fun. But I have done enough quests in my time to come to the realization that although some of the quests in Wow are great. Some appear to have been created by drunken hamsters.
I havenât experienced what you just described, so I guess I canât make an informed comment.
Old days:
Either spend literally days and days wandering aimlessly with little clue what to do, or,
Download levelling guide to know which quest hubs to go to and the order in which to do quests, aligning with when to level up, where to set hearth, etc.
Now:
Get all quests in hub, do all quests in hub, get quest pointing you to next hub, rinse and repeat
There are maybe half a dozen quests now where looking up on wowhead is required, and really only when its a cave or found on top of a hill or something and no path is identified just the actual location.
I suspect the people who struggle now would also struggle with a âClick here for XPâ NPC.
When I get one of those I type the quest name into Google and videos pop up showing just what it is you are suppose to be doing. About 90% of the time after about a minute or two it becomes obvious (âOh the little green things at the base of the tree âŚâ) or some such thing.
I feel that you are being a bit dismissive here. I did say quests have been fun, some even great to experience. What I am referring to in a general sense is the quests that are terrible messes. Hard to understand and follow that in some cases end up uncompleted do to too many convolutions and vagaries. And please donât infer that all the quest/quest chains in Wow are well executed marvels.
What Im saying is all quests now are beyond simple. Everything is marked on your map.
The only confusion comes when you can see the location but not the cave entrance or cliff path to get there.
Levelling is beyond user friendly now. You are hand fed.
If you really played Vanilla there is zero chance you can find the current quests in any way difficult.
WoW quests are easy.
WoW however is pretty terrible at telling you what youâre supposed to be doing though.
That is your opinion, and I respect your opinion. But I must say that in my opinion you are not correct as to what you stated.
Thank you. This is what I have been trying to get at.
lol what?
Which ones.
theyre so complicated i got dragon isles loremaster without reading a single one of them
Read the comments first
Congratulations.
The final Dragon flying glyph I got was the one on top of Valdrakken.
No idea it was there probably because the ânearbyâ alert got lost in all the city chat.
I read quickly though most quests and watch all the videos on the 1st toon, but skip on all others.
And if you do decide to read, youâll see that it tell you what is going on and where to go for the quests. The gnolls to the southâŚ,
