Wow population sub numbers really low?

https://wowranks.io/stats

Looking at this, theres atleast 2 mil level 60s that picked a cov assuming all of them are mains and not alts…

I mean it make sense. My main is in one of the most populated server, if not the most populated according to WoWprogress and I didn’t notice any queue as much as prior expansions.
So WoW came from 12 mil to 2 mil? YIKES

Blizzard confirmed 3.7 m people did the shadowland quests

What does time got to do with it? If the game is good people will stay.

it was below 500k for a bit until classic brought back a ton of subs in bfa

I think shadowlands is a lot better than bfa but still suffers from convoluted layered systems intended to increase grind without more content

Nope , if you started playing 2008 as pg 13 then you are 25 today and have mostly likely moved on time change - Garrosh

I’ve been wondering when they will just make a new Warcraft MMO to bring in more subs but at the same time I’m not sure if people would migrate to another game given the amount of investment people have in wow.

Some of us haven’t hit the level cap yet…

I’m still in the leveling process with the character I want to use.

Find any game that has the same or more population as it did 12 years ago. The fact that there are still millions of people playing this game after 16 years is nuts.

Plus there’s a lot of people who aren’t 60 yet, or don’t even care about leveling at all.

This doesnt account for 4 regions though so this number is not even close to accurate

This. Half my guild has an active subscription but hasn’t hit max level yet because they only play an hour or two a day. You can probably at least double that 2 million.

MMOrpgs are a dying genre, players want a quick fix , socializing is a all time low , anti-social behavior is an all time high. Metrics both from players and the company precedes over people .

Others genres and Mobile gaming are taking over.

Yes it is, and what have they done? sacked people god know what other budget cuts they made we don’t know off. Cause believe me the 20th century you would think they would have double 2008 numbers by now. The computer is the way of life now hence more people then ever are using them and going from 12m 2008 to maybe 2 mil 2020 speaks volumes how bad this game is.

Yeah, also it doesn’t count sub numbers, only active 60s with a covenant it seems.

You don’t have to be level 60 to pick a Covenant once you have a 60. I’ve picked Covenants on 4 characters now.

So, those stats give very little indication for what the population is, beyond “small” (which we’ve known since they stopped reporting numbers and made everything cross-server).

This is just factually wrong. First of all the game has changed a ton, but so has the world of gaming.

Trends are different, what people determine is good is different, and even if things are good, what people can devote time on is different.

If both wow and some other game is good, but other game takes less time, people might play that instead.

Being good isn’t good enough.

In China maybe but not everywhere else in the world. People like to sit down and enjoy a game not sit on a train or at a bus stop or during their lunch break playing phone games. No satisfaction what so ever in it unless you’re gambling. which is bad sorry btw.

Yea this is something I believe as well. We are in the twilight years of the MMORPG type of games. You have some outliers hanging on but most of them have small populations supported by the Whales through cash shops.

It’s so true on the antisocial behavior for just about everything these days. You got delivery service apps for fast food restaurants FFS!

People like to see progression in a game. Hence the achievements points system. Which at the moment isn’t happening sad.

Huh no. Quarterly earning reports don’t lie for Activision

You can combine all the revenue generated by Blizzards games, COD and heck lets add Destiny2 in it . Its all a joke when compared to their Kings Entertainment company that made Candy crush saga
