Wow on the PS4

I have read posts where people complained about Wow upgrading graphics every so often and that in some cases they have had to buy new computers. And that with the high inflation that we have that seems to increase every month. It has gotten to the point that they can’t afford to buy a new computer every few year to play Wow.

Disclaimer: I know Wow can run on a Potato. Apparently some peoples’ Potato’s are rotting. And they just can’t afford to buy a new potato.

Well If that’s the case maybe the answer is to port the game to the PS4. This was done with another game Everquest on PC. Which was ported to the PS2 years back as Everquest Online Adventures. Most people have a PS4. Maybe this might work?

I’m not saying this should be done. Just saying it could be an option for the Devs to consider.

Please share your opinion.

I think that runs into the issue of wow’s control scheme. Controller support for this game can generously be described as janky at best. It’s going to be a competitive disadvantage to play on a controller.

That and I have no idea how addons would work on a console.

The hardware should be able to run it for sure, my iPad probably has enough power to run wow on low settings.

Last I heard all the other gaming entities more or less burned thier bridges with Blizzard.

Plus the only entity that would allow ports would be Microsoft, and that’ll be on Xbox.

Our community is awful enough without bringing those people and their toy store game boxes in the mix.

Er, you either don’t know much about technical performance or you just talk out of your head burrowed in sand with that.

WoW graphical demands is significantly higher than the original release. Even WoW classic is more demanding than the original 2004 WoW. So if $800 in 2022 is a potato to you than you need to go learn about computers before advocating on it.

Maybe but the current WoW would be more suited for the PS5. A PS4 wouldn’t function properly and be laggy at times. On top of needing it’s own Client version. Other MMOs with console port already struggle with this since they’re tune around the console spec. With the way wow is designed, this wouldn’t work, mainly due to large amount of players that can easily gather around during combat. There’s just too many VFX and smoothing for every Player Characters now.

No thanks. This community already complains about slow content updates, so why would they take away some of their development resources to port WoW to old gen gaming consoles.

If anything WoW needs to continue pushing forward with DLSS and other modern tech.

Ah well that is difficult to read on text at times.

If you are buying a pc every two years to play wow you are doing it wrong. I’ve had the same PC since MOP and it still runs WOW.

Stop making up problems that don’t exist just to prove your point. It makes you look silly.

I did not say I Had this problem. I said Some people in the forums have mentioned they did.

If you can not afford a new pc every 5 years+ then you got other issues irl than having to worry about things like playing a videogame.

Everyone who reads this post, let us know if you have a PS4

I do, and I still play games on it.

A PC and a Nintendo Switch, that’s it.

Will more likely be xbox with the msft buyout.

I wonder if the Steam Deck would run WoW.

I bought a PS3… not even for the games, really. But I needed a Blu-Ray player and the PS3 is actually one of the best you can buy. I only ever bought 1 game for it. (God of War)

And because I’m not really a console gamer, I never bought a 4. So if I ever get the urge to buy a 5 (and they’re EVER IN STOCK ANYWHERE), I can say I saved some money by skipping a cycle. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just add the stipulation that you need a mouse and keyboard to play on console and it’s 100% doable. Blizz would have to work with addon creators though to help build a console port with at least the main addons we use like DBM, Weakaura, bagnon, bartender etc. etc.

Also idk about Xbox but I know that Sony is a pain in theass to deal with when it comes to updates for your game.

Oh no, it’s not like i can just lower the graphics and prioritize over framerate and save up the money they get me a Pc that lasts me for nearly double the time. /s…

Then wait for a sale or build a PC yourself. :man_shrugging:

Then lower your graphics. Why people MUST insist that PC’s have to be running at high graphics, you don’t need that, High graphic setting is a luxury. It actually sort of peeves me off to no end that in 2022, people still think PC gaming must only be for the high performance and graphics when in truth, it can literally be anything you want it to be. :expressionless:

OPTIONS. It’s a good thing. :grinning: :+1:

Computer components don’t ‘rot’ over time. If they break, you don’t have to throw the whole thing out. You open it up, take a look inside, you find the component that is broken, unscrew and/or unplug replace the component that is broken with something that is new, screw/plug it back in, close it up, and bam, as if it’s 100 days used after being new.

Ahh yes, the ultimate answer for a PC game that constantly requires you better hardware…

Put it in a closed environment with no way to upgrade with decade old hardware, possibly more given it’s MSRP to make it that price …I mean nobody will ever complain about ever wanting to upgrade then, right? I mean who needs playable framerate anyways?.. :man_facepalming:

/s

Interesting example considering this is back when games can be wildly different versions from the consoles to PC… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Well even if they can be done, it would only be done on the Xbox 1 the very least.

I think the people who are complaining about WoW changing graphics should be informed instead of highlighting their problem even more on a closed environment.

Probably.

It would probably have to be at the absolute minimum settings, but it probably can.

Although, portably it would be a nightmare on that tiny screen.
