Every other “big” MMORPG like FF14, Elder Scrolls Online, Guild Wars 2 and RuneScape have made it onto Steam but WoW seems to be the exception to that. Blizzard recently put two games on Steam in the last year as well, so it’s not like they’re particularly strict about sticking to Bnet as well. Should it happen?
Does it need to be on stream?
What is the benefit for putting the game on steam?
It wouldn’t do anything- I’m pretty sure every Steam gamer knows about WoW already.
And the choose not to play it, lol.
Overwatch 2 is only on there, because it’s free to play, and apparently was forced on there to sell more skins.
Its usually a detriment. it adds a launcher layer to a launcher layer. and is an update chain. usually the vendor can be trusted to be right there right away lol.
LOTRO and eve is there too. I still use(d) the game launchers.
All steam gives is metrics. for when people want to see how time they played. Dude…I got 1000 hours, damn thats lot.
The only benefit to WoW being on Steam would be to take advantage of the easier payment processing… and Steam takes a big cut of that, so no way.
Most of those MMO’s are also on PS5, your point?
Nah… I can’t stand the steam client. I obviously use it since it practically has a monopoly, but I like that WoW is on its own launcher.
Clown farming?
Oh my.
The Steam discussions would be a sight to see, it’d be butting heads with GD in terms of stupidity lol.
Yeah, i desperately want to see that showdown.
I’ve come to like the adult oriented games section reviews and discussions.
Its at least honest and humorous chatter.
Okay y’all… honest review here. its a 7.5. gameplay 5 but the image content a 10.
fair and balanced discussion there. the devs now know to work on gameplay, so kind of helpful lol.
No.

Same.
Even if it was on Steam, all launching the game via Steam would do is launch Battle.net.
Just like how launching GTA V via Steam simply launches the Rockstar Games launcher, etc.
why does it need to be on steam? what’s the point of that? battle net is simple to use.
Overwootch too (I call it that, deal with it) is not a unique gem compared to the majesty of World of Warcraft.
also… Blizzard has very little intentions of sharing profits with Gaben.
Overwatch 2 added to Steam. Game ratings on it went low really fast. Why would they add WoW?
get review bombed lol
More attention. Steam is pretty much the default storefront for PC gaming.
That and Steam Deck users for easy installation and such.
Imma put it lightly, manually installing things on a Linux machine was a son of a gun because i’m a flithy casual windows user. For me with the The Sims 2 , it uses the compactdata folder with it’s own windows like folders, but you have to magically know what number it has to be in. And it looks like i’l be put though that torture again, now that i know The Sims 1 and 3 are on there.
And that’s a NON launcher game. (at least the version i’ve used) Can’t imagine how it will work with a launcher game.
