Sometimes is right damn picky about cross-play would be one reason wow not being on steam could be another. At the end of the day there’s no reason wow couldint run on a PS4 or 5 but money I think?
Sony allows crossplay on FFXIV.
Port WoW to my old, but still running C64.
Lol, I’ve played WoW on mine!
Sadly they are wasting money that’d be better spent on WoW making a stupid mobile warcraft title.
Then why dose ff14 have cross play? Why dose cod have cross play… ya that’s not it
Diablo and WoW are different games.
Well they had no plans to do classic either. Of course in this case there’s not a huge crowd asking for it.

Imagine controllers trying to move their right analog stick to turn camera while turning in PvP without any “aim assist”.
This isn’t a problem. The real struggle is trying to click quest items or place ground effects like traps.
This just shows your ignorance of controllers and PvP in general. Camera facing is 180, you don’t need pin point accuracy to face someone. Camera speed is easily tunable.
god i dont wanna share wow with sony players

With that said, i don’t know how something like WoW (And Cities Skyline and The Sims 4 tbh) can be on consoles to be considered a valid way to play WoW that is past being a novelty, considering there is already a way to essentially play it like a console game but with all the benefits of the PC and not the disadvantages of a console.
I left WoW to play ESO on console for 4 years, before coming back a year or so ago. I found the vast majority of players I encountered didn’t play PC games. I think there is a significantly untapped MMO market for consoles.
Frankly I think many PC players put far too much emphasis on graphics that aren’t as important to most console players. I played the whole halo series along with millions of others despite crappy graphics.
The real problems as I see them are that WoW is not structured for controller based gameplay. Blizz’s controller support is woefully lacking. And the vast majority of WoWs long term player base will never switch to console. So while there is a market there, they would be taking a significant risk investing in a console client.
I honestly think Blizz is just riding out the bull so to speak. I don’t think they have any plans to significantly invest more into WoW. But are giving it minimal support as long as they continue to make a certain amount of profit.
For those saying no addons…console supports them. if the dev works it that way.
Skyrim and Fallout 4 have many mods on console.
PS/sony just has some idiotic rule about no external resources. No external scripting, no external visual files. So it has to be in the game. So if straight LUA add on…it should be fine. it could be seen the same as BGS script langauges built in. these you can tweak since its BGS’ installed stuff.
XBox side its more wide open. the 2gb size is main limiter. so you can’t go crazy with 4k visual mods. and no support for script extenders (ie FO4SE) like pc has. so those mods needing it can’t port.
Depending on how they’s hook up the community basic mods are no muss no fuss really.
When I make a fallout 4 mods its simply 2 saves after worked on in creation kit. 1 for pc and the other I use CK to push to the bethesda.net mods site the game pulls from. Pull on xbox in game and its there.

Frankly I think many PC players put far too much emphasis on graphics that aren’t as important to most console players.
Well it’s not just graphics, it’s everything else the PC allows you to do. Like playing old games at a higher framerate, fixing bugs that are yet to be fixed, and so on. Not that there’s anything wrong with caring about graphics, but that is only a big bonus, and not the main feature if you will.
Also, it’s kind of odd that you say that, when it would be remiss of both of us to forget that there’s console players that do care about graphics. Some would even use the console graphics to knock the PC’s graphic’s, though that’s a different story.

The real problems as I see them are that WoW is not structured for controller based gameplay. Blizz’s controller support is woefully lacking.
Essentially.

And the vast majority of WoWs long term player base will never switch to console.
And even if they could, they will be severely limited by what Microsoft and especially Sony will allow them to have on the console.

For those saying no addons…console supports them. if the dev works it that way.
Skyrim and Fallout 4 have many mods on console.
Not to dump on your examples here, but you just listed two games that are mod compatible, and even then, those two don’t rival to potentially unlimited amount of mods you can have on PC with those 2 games.
And what i think their coming from when they said that is, their saying that consoles have a very limited addon support or doesn’t allow the same amount of freedom the PC does in terms of creating, editing mod files, or have more then 100 if you want. If every Single-player Game on console is modifiable, it would be a pretty darn nice start.

XBox side its more wide open. the 2gb size is main limiter.
Yeah, that’s very very big limitation.

and no support for script extenders (ie FO4SE) like pc has.
I mean Script Extenders to those two Bethesda games are pretty useful to a point of a requirement, and not having them on a console is gonna limit a ton of possibilities for modding, even simple bug fixes.
Lies. I have one. Got it on launch
you know every excuse in ffxiv about why they cant have a feature always boils down to “that would not be compatible with consoles”

Also, what is the point of playing a PC game on a console with PC controllers?
…these are sedentary folks who feel sitting at a desk is exhausting work.
They put Diablo on the consoles, and now with ps5, and Xbox series x, they have ssd. They could do standard at first to lvl 60, then go from there. I know they would make bank. I’ve got Diablo on my pc, and ps5 love that game.
I think they have more important things to worry about right now for the game than porting it onto a console system that will be obsolete in a few years
Iunno, would it have addon support? if not that’s a mega hard pass as the default ui is trash.
you know not everyone would pay for the kb/m and youd end up with ppl that take 20 seconds to do a 180 just to look behind them
i’d be down honestly - just dont make it cross-play.
then again it brings the question… is wow even big enough to split its population once again?
