WoW Officially Dies On Xbox Game Pass

Whatever console related titles you’ve purchased on Xbox, they’ve never appeared on the Windows 10, 11 platform such as owning all the Gears of War games on console and never appearing on PC (GoW 1-4)

As such, the Xbox gaming client - equivalent to Battle.net - will never get updated and thus World of Warcraft will fail to get supported

The crowd will go nuts over this because WoW becomes sub free to play as long as you have Xbox Game Pass

If Microsoft wanted to be a Steam gaming killer they would’ve done it already

I don’t think Battle.net is going anywhere.

What on earth are you talking about?

We don’t even know if WoW will be launching on Xbox Game Pass. The header image used in the official announcement by Xbox is the same image that Activision Blizzard uses on their website, so it’s not indicative of anything.

Chances are that World of Warcraft will not be on game pass (or it will be on the PC version). The games that are most likely going to appear on game pass will be the Overwatch games (well, Overwatch for now, but Overwatch 2 when it launches) as well as the Diablo franchise. Maybe Starcraft on the PC version only.

And no matter whether you’re playing via game pass or not, you’re still going to need a battle.net account, so the launcher isn’t going anywhere.

Lol so dramatic.

Not sure where you get this from. Xbox game pass is arguably a great thing. Age of Empires 4 was on it on release day, a brand new title which is great. Besides, if WoW goes on game pass, why are you against new players joining this dying game? In fact, I’d argue WoW NEEDS new players. It almost seems this game is exclusively played by dinosaurs who refuse to give it up because of the sunken cost fallacy.

Microsoft has never proven themselves to be a play your Xbox console games library on PC

Uh, M$ bought out Bethesda too, and Starfield is still releasing to Steam and other storefronts.

I thought WoW died like 20 times in the past 3 years, no?

And what is your point?

There are no Activision Blizzard games that are exclusive to Xbox. There are PC versions for pretty much all of them, which means that they’ll be, most likely, available on the PC version of game pass.

And the most recent game releases by Microsoft have released on multiple platforms other than the Microsoft store. Age of Empires 4, for example, released on game pass, the microsoft store and steam.

You’re making a mountain out of a tiny ant hill.

This game is going free to play with Xbox Game Pass,

A corporation that large of a library without the PC game-console client support is just a waste of resources

No, it’s not.

There’s no indication that World of Warcraft will even be on the Xbox Game Pass. Zero.

You’re literally making crap up and then trying to sell it to people. Stop it.

I’d be shocked if it didn’t. It just makes sense. WoW is the perfect game for Microsoft to stuff into their game pass to add value.

I mean, it will most definitely be good advertisement for the game. I Microsoft’s launching service is a pain to use, but I’m not sure they would move WoW there.

What are you even trying to talk about?

If a game is Play Anywhere tagged, then it appears on Windows store.

You’re labelling games that are literally over a decade old and were never on PC as if they should have been on PC somehow?

Gears 1, 2, 3, and Judgement were never on PC. Gears 1 remaster, yes, which was still only ever on Windows store. If you bought it on Xbox digitally you own it on PC as well I would assume - I don’t have it so I don’t know. Gears 4 and 5 are play anywhere and I can provide screenshots if you need them.

I would be surprised if it did. Given that World of Warcraft is still a subscription MMO, it doesn’t really fit in with Game Pass, which doesn’t offer subscriptions as part of their service. The only MMOs on their platform are ones that are already free to play, such as ESO, and there have been no hints that WoW is going F2P.

If you use Zenimax Elder Scrolls Online as an example which Microsoft acquired last March, ESO is part of xbox game pass but the $15 per month ESO Plus membership is still separate. I doubt we’ll see free subscription included in game pass, just access to the game and expansions if you don’t already own them.

its been “dying” since the original BC was released

Not to mention that ESO was always on consoles as well, so it’s kind of hard to get a read on whether or not WoW will follow suit.

Well, it would make no sense to essentially have the same sub price for multiple third-party sellers, no?

I actually think games pass is one of the very best services available for a gamer, so I’d definitely support the decision if they did it.
