Hello,
I noticed that WoW has been using 100% CPU utilization, whereas GPU is at 0%. I’ve been trying to find an answer/fix to this and haven’t quite found one. In Advanced System settings ingame the graphics card is selected (Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER). When I manually select it again and click apply, the game lags a second and the GPU utilization spikes to 100%, back down to ~10% for a few seconds, and then back to 0%.
I tried playing with the 3D settings in Nvidia Control Panel and Power settings to match what was mentioned in a similar post, but it didn’t fix the utilization.

Thanks
Do you have your monitor plugged into the graphics card?
I do. I should have prefaced to say that I play other games on my PC and they utilize the GPU without issue.

Since you do not have a second GPU installed it has to be using the only GPU you have installed. What issue are you actually having. other then the utilization appearing to be zero which can not be the case if the game is actually working.
I was concerned I’m overloading my CPU when the GPU can take more utilization. But like you said, it has to be utilizing the GPU to be running the game. I’m using EVGA precision in the background, which does show the GPU clock speed and temps increase significantly when I open the game. What’s odd is that task manager shows “Desktop Windows Manager” at 20% GPU . This must be WoW since the game runs now in Fullscreen (Windowed) mode, or so I assume. It doesn’t appear this high when the game isn’t running.
The 20% for the desktop manager is likely the game. The game has a tendency to spike the CPU usage in certain situations. Are you running DX 12 ?
Task Manager in Windows 10 can be less than reliable at reading actual usage for WoW. It’s something that has been reported for Overwatch as well.
A better way to make sure that the GPU is actually being used is to use a third-party program, like you mentioned EVGA Precision X, or I’d also recommend GPU-Z. As long as your monitor is plugged into your GPU though, you’re right it has to be used to render the game.
Thank you both for your input. I’ll take a look at GPU-Z.
To answer Northernlite’s question, yes, I am running DX12.
