FFS. I guess WoW really is never going to recover. We’re just going to add yet another set of islands to AFK on while the original WoW continents remain a barren pixelated wasteland. We’re so far from the original lore/meaning of the game. We might as well just get rid of them entirely and teleport us directly to the next expansion hub world.
inb4 “bUT muH dRaGoN iSlEs!!!”
Hard agree, if they want to do islands then make them patch zones.
People keep saying this yet I am constantly having to complete with others farming old content for various items.
varies from server to server
area-52 is busy in just about every zone.
I’ve been thinking that it would be cool if at the end of an expac Gilnaes is rebuilt and settled, giving the Wargons their home back and showing them returning the favor to the Night Elves by providing them sanctuary until they are able to find their own home.
I just looked and apparently I am on a high population server.
It was categorized as low when I came back Xmas '19. I wonder when that happened. Or how. Or why.
I might be annoyed.
I agree tbh. While I would be ecstatic about the Dragon Isles, I think a world revamp would make me happier. I was a Cataclysm enjoyer
What if we got a new island ON TOP of one of the old continents? EH?
Were the dragon isles confirmed?
They’ve heavily datamined a lot of info suggesting we’re going there, but I don’t think you could say “confirmed” just yet.
It could also not be the whole expansion, but assets from a zone, patch, or raid from 10.0. But it definitely feels like Dragon Isles is in the lead for potential expacs.
I, personally, would like to see improvements to the original continents. There is a vault of content ideas to pull ideas from. As Ive heard mentioned before on the forums, areas such as Gilneas and the Thandol Span could include a server wide quest ( a la the Gates of AQ) to fix these areas up. A realm-wide quest for each area to be fixed up (there are a ton of them all over the world to choose from). Gather resources, fight epic beasts for materials, etc, etc. In order to keep the content relevant over time, once the world goal has been reached, have a selection of these rebuilt areas on rotation as a “weekly” quest where some local npc faction (Gnolls or Murlocs) (or horde/alliance) is attacking; defend the area, repair damage, etc.
Farming doesn’t count. We need actual end game content that continues to be relevant from expansion to expansion. The two continents are supposed to be the primary setting for WoW , and the endgame is 90% of WoW. We need several zones per continent and a full revamp to reflect the many decades that have passed in game since Cata.
My point is the World is not barren.
We, as in I and my very annoying competitors, are farming it.
So it might not be relevant to you, but it is certainly relevant to us because we are out and about doing things in it.
We are farming in zones that are over fifteen years old so clearly this non-end game content is still relevant so maybe that is the basket you should be asking your eggs to be put in.
And yet I keep running into players not only farming in the open world but questing in the open world and farming old dungeons and raids .
If you can arrange for them to create a portal in the Wizard’s Tower and an option in Chromie Time to travel back to Cataclysm Azeroth so I can continue farming it, I don’t care.
And, if you get them to do that, could you also get them to create a portal in the Wizard’s Tower and an option in Chromie Time to also travel back to Old World Azeroth (vanilla) so I can collect patterns that the Cata revamp made unavailable to the Alliance (but not the Horde I noticed) because those are the problems you run into when you start revamping the World!
Anything to add life back into Azeroth is a win for me…
Personally if dragon isles are a thing, I would like them to be small and not continents… where the primary content is in the rest of the planet that again got busted like cata.
That’d be a ton of work. I’d be happy if they did a few zones at a time.
They need new continents on the backside of the planet.
So I thought of this a while back in the shower, so the next expansion should have dragons and such but it won’t only be about dragons. It should have Elune, Anshe, light/void, and other stuff for future expansions or just to put in content for the next expansion like bringing back old enemies or creating newer ones that we’ll see return in the future.
And how would this work you asked? Well, we will be getting dragon isles but it’s not a continent. Its more of a zone with different regions for the different dragon aspects. This new zone will be near Kalimdor which I think was the original plan. Transport would either be by boat or by flying. This could also give us and the devs a break from grinding to unlock flying and to think of a new way to implement flying or why grinding for it sucks.
The Dragon Isles would work as a Suramar type zone with each region having daily quest and quest chains at the end of max. Each regions daily quest dont fall under one cap and you could do all five at the same time. Also each week one region will reward more than usual.
Now what are the leveling contents? Well if we do get a world rebuilding type of system, it’ll be either EK or Kalimdor to help rebuild those zones. We could choose where to go and each zone will be revamped for good. Also, you wont have to finish since each zone is different and unique. Some may follow a quest chain and some will not. That way it helps players when they feel finished and get bored to come back later and if they want finish each of the zones. It creates world engagement and could revive the feeling of being in a popular world.
Then I thought that it kinda sounded bad and players wouldn’t like it. Idk give me your thoughts on these.
PS: We also wouldn’t get a big bad right out the gate and this could break the expansion release pattern. So instead of two years it could be three years of a new expansion. Also we will be getting at least more than 3 or 4 patches at least to build more story.
