WoW needs FFXIV crafting

I would love to deepen the crafting paths, but gods don’t attach it to what I’m wearing at the time. >.<

Gearing to craft is part of crafting.

I’m not saying ff crafting is bad, I rather enjoy it, but it’s also far from perfect

It’s part of the fun though, you can see your crafting getting better as you gear, just like you can see your dps going up

Oh I agree it’s not perfect. I do prefer it to wow’s crafting though.

Point and click isn’t exactly engaging.

Wow needs a LOT of FF14 systems imo…

I just came back recently and man did they make some major improvements to both crafting and gathering, I was not prepared lol

I’m glad you like it. I do not. It’s the most nonsensical thing to me. I need to wear a certain smock to pick an herb? The fel with that.

Yeah, they really did. People were mad at 1st though because they took so much of the bloat out in 5.1 I think it was and then started to rebuild in 5.2.

I do appreciate that they made it easier to get into while at the same time making the top harder.

Ironically my number one change is separate collectible crafts lol, can’t tell you how many times I say down to do collectibles and forgot to turn it on

To each their own

I believe what you meant to say OP was Warcraft needs crafting

It actually makes sense when you think about it.

Would you in real life put on plate armor to go chop down a tree or mine some ore? Would you wear some nice robes to mix volatile chemicals together to make some potions or other things?

I feel you. I did the same thing many a time working on custom deliveries.

None of which are necessary or even all that useful except for completionists, and therefore irrelevant when discussing relative crafting utility between the two systems.

Actually, a lot of the legendaries require cross crafts

I have thought about it. If I’m walking past a flower, I don’t want to have to seek a changing room to pick it. That makes no sense. Milling? Working with the herbs? Going out for an entire day - maybe. But picking a single herb? Nope. As Wirtt said: to each their own. But it doesn’t mean I didn’t try to see my way clear.

Well, in ff you go out specifically to gather, nodes don’t even show up until you have your main gathering tool equipped, so there’s that.

Come to think of it, wow could benefit from personal nodes

No thanks.
Professions in Legion were complicated enough as-is.

I think BFA had the perfect balance, honestly. (I know, heresy!) The basic recipes were there on the trainer, but to improve them you had to do quests; then they had the profession quest chains. Good stuff.

I quit FFXIV because of the crafting system! I thought it was awful! I like WoW’s system. The only thing I think is wrong is we tend to level to fast for crafted gear to be useful.

All I know is that if Blizzard wants my “play-time” metric then they gotta do something with crafting especially during long content droughts. Right now I just login and repost my auctions then go back to FFXIV.

I think WoWs crafting system is fine, it just needs to have more things actually worth crafting.

I also think it needs more super unique hard to get recipes again. Things like the Vial of Sands for Alchemy, or unique and interesting weapons for Blacksmith. Bring back the consumes that let you herb/mine while mounted for LW.
