Lore is pretty important to me. I always read quest text. I want to know WHY I’m killing those enemies. I don’t like how the Horde has become evil so many times.

All RPG’s have a story element to it? Why wouldn’t someone get invested in the story?

Couldn’t care less tbh, I never read quest text anyway since I’m usually in a rush to get thru everything/just want to get all pesky chores out of the way.
Watching the mini-cinematics on Youtube in my spare time is about the extent of my interest in the story or lore. I’ll get bits and pieces of the story just from listening in on streamers progging the raid in the background (usually by listening into Echo/Limit streams during the RWF)

Zero. I’m not a Warcraft fan. I came for other reasons.
I’ve followed Warcraft’s story for a very long time. My friends and I made up RPGs to play based on Warcraft II when we were in elementary school. It’s been a part of my life as long as I can remember.

I really enjoy the lore. I always make a point of paying attention to text and following it closely.
For me it’s a big aspect of the game and not something I’ll ignore, but not so critical that I’m going to unsub if something I don’t like happens. I’m not that superficial or care to that extent. But I do love knowing what’s going on and who the characters are. I’m frequently a lore nerd on the forums explaining things.

Prior to WoW I had no exposure or interest in Warcraft, and my only association is with the theme and aesthetics of the Horde. I once cared enough about the story and lore in-game from expansion to expansion that I’d read most quest text and pay attention to events, but BFA pretty well did that in. I do appreciate the fantastical nature of SL, but I don’t care about its story, either. At this point everything is learn objective, achieve objective, rinse and repeat.

personally? not one bit. i think it’s cool that people are into it but it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the game one way or another.
WoW’s story and world building was everything to me. Until SL ruined it.

I like the lores about classic wow. I am not so worry about tbc and beyond.
Kalimdor and eastern kingdoms:D
The Warcraft universe has always had a laughably convoluted and childish story. With that in mind, I’d say it had an enormous impact in how I’ve perceived expansions.
As an example, the basic concept behind WoD - not even the alternate universe garbage trope, but rather the whole “We’ll bring back these old warlords that we ASSUME everyone will just love and identify with” and ride that nostalgia train - was easily biggest failure for me by Blizzard in the past 17 years.

Story is more important for single player games that are ‘play once and then done’… and useful for initially giving some degree of context for the world and what’s going on. It’s significantly less important if not mostly discarded for games that are attempting to be made popular for long periods of time. That’s when systems and gameplay loops become vastly more important concepts to consider and work on.
More than I care to admit. Honestly the lack of worldbuilding this expac has been extremely painful to me.

Let’s be honest it doesn’t affect most people that play or played the game. It’s all about gameplay. Does a good story add to the game? Yes. Do I enjoy lore? A ton. But the gameplay is still more important to me. Even with bad/subpar lore if the gameplay was amazing people would play more and still play. WoW has never been the FF14 type game. FF14 is a story game, and while WoW has some amazing lore (current excluded) the lore IN GAME has never been the focus. I learned about all the lore (and still learning) outside of the game. While telling a better story in game would be amazing, it isn’t what’s killing off subs. It certainly doesn’t help though.
Very much so, it really bothers me how this expansion even looks. It just doesn’t FEEL right. So you can imagine how I feel about the lore. It’s all so bad.

The lore is important but it’s not a make or break for me.
I was into it with LK, even listened to all the books on Audible.
Since then it’s been kinda trash

Quiet a bit. I’d rather research and read lore than the current convulted systems that some seem a disgrace to the story - i.e. Arthas
I gave a crap about it until Wrath launched and Varian Wrynn popped up back in the game without explanation after returning to the storyline in a comic book.
Since then, I’ve only found the lore of the Mists expansion to be interesting.
