WoW Lifetime subscription option

Less than 2 months until patch 3.0. It had no impact on tbc.

Also, wouldn’t limiting the boost to one per account just encourage multiple accounts? Especially, if its aimed to sell it to multiboxers.

It’s unlikely to create a multiboxing epidemic, most players wouldn’t have the physical setup to actually multi-box clients, more so now that Warden bans software that replicates keystrokes to other clients (which is why you don’t see multi-boxxers in classic anymore).

and financially most players aren’t going to be shelling out 50-60 bucks and extra subs fees to run multiple characters simultaneously. The whales might, but they can/would do that now if they wanted to with multi accounts and the hardware required to handle the multiple physical inputs needed.

In the vein that gold famers would do it, that topics been discussed to death. Also not likely to be a problem based on the price point, no matter how hard the smooth brains doom and gloom.

In less than 2 months using it, I had a brand new account full of 60’s. 30 days of free game time and a new shinty mount. Oh and enough levels stored up in the grant-a-level bank to top off the accounts in my main account as well. And what did I pay for all this? Just the subscription costs. And trust me I was not the only one.

But you know what, take away the boost right now if I can have RAF back the way it was in TBC. I would gladly give up the boosts for TBC RAF, 100% without question.

I don’t think its worth $500 unless they announce the next expansion is doing a 180 from that garbage retail and mimic classic-TBC

never going to happen… without monthly subs WoW would die quickly. I could see them doing a 12 month subscription though. Would be nice if a 12 month actually had a decent discount. Hell they could limited time offer it to people if they wanted to many when blizzcon is on or something or a month before the yearly earnings report to shareholders. If someone commits to a year up front for this game they should get a decent discount. there is certainly never a full year worth of content here.

Players buy life time sub. Developers close shop and remove game lol.

I’m sure this has been considered at Blizzard. So if it hasn’t been offered, there is some reason.

only if I can have a lifetime subscription coin to sell on the AH

I don’t think it would be a good idea. Monthly sub is preferred in large audience because the game has to constantly keep your attention every month, otherwise you’re not going to pay it. People who buy the lifetime sub option would feel tied to their subscription after spending a large figure aka sunken cost fallacy, and would continue to scream and yell about how the game sucks when they are no longer having fun, but feel compelled to play it
There is a reason game designers call MMORPG populations captive audiences already.

Also, there is a small percentage of hardcore players who practically never unsub. They’d make their money back in monthly payments (15$) after 2.75 years, which is doable given the long life of WoW. And the vast majority of people who would pay 500$ would be part of that hardcore audience so… (I hope you can see where i’m going with this). It’s just not profitable in the very long term.

Activision/Blizzard ain’t in the business of losing money. Heck their CEO already has to take a pay cut. Do really want a CRO with only one yacht??
