WoW Lifetime subscription option

I feel confident that Blizzard’s accountants would disagree. Strongly. At base price that’s not even three years worth (~2.7). I’ve been subscribed off and on for almost 14 years. Even counting for the times I’ve taken a break I probably have at least 10 full years paid into the game by now. I just can’t see any rational way Blizzard would think that’s a good idea.

Do you honestly think WoW has another 10 years in it? Even the Blizzard accountants know WoW is on the tail end of its lifecycle.

That is not a Doom and Gloom statement, just a serious observation. I give all this 5-6 years, then it will be either Free to play or downgraded to a low-priority project.

So getting 2.7 years of subscriptions upfront might actually sound good.

And then again I could be wrong and this train keeps on going 10 more years.

What if they did this:

Lifetime Subscription $900 for the next 30 days.

New pricing: $20/month effective after 30 days.

If they had this at the start they would have lost about $2000 from me. Well $4000 if you count the other sub.

The thing is, they’re still generating plenty of profit without it. If they even offered it (at any price) it would fuel speculation that they’re in trouble and trying to raise emergency capital. That kind of idiocy can actually effect the stock price on a short term basis.

Offering mounts and stuff for six month subs is probably a much safer method of keeping subscription numbers safely consistent. Even if they get to the point where they see the sunset on the horizon and don’t plan on adding content after five years, once they pull that trigger of a lifetime sub - they’ve made a wager, and it’s one that they can possibly lose. It’s a wager they don’t have to make,

I still play the odd D2 Ladder season!

Or if they were to offer a fresh server designation similar to the RP servers that were granted only by request after blizzard realized there was a demand for such a server type. The fresh server would have to be without boosts or other cash shop conveniences. Then I would be on board - even if it were a 500 dollar purchase.

Yeah? Well, that’s just like your opinion, man.

Hey, it is just a suggestion and odds are Blizzard will never see any of this anyway. So me spitballing the idea is more of a thought exercise anyway.

I seem to recall hearing that Blizzard employees could purchase a lifetime membership back in BC. Just hearsay.

Its to late for that in my opinion

Wow the worst idea ive ever seen on the forums and thats saying alot. Congrats

And that has to be the most pointless and childish response to a forum thread I have ever seen.

Congratulations, good job!

You can now return to the kiddie table and let the adults finish having a conversation.

If you think that $500 for a lifetime sub is an adult conversation I mean I guess?

Well considering I’ll probably be playing for at least 4 more years through Classic wrath the $900 would actually be better for me. On the other hand, I don’t think it’s realistic for a company to offer a subscription like that when their current retail expansion is generating less buzz than a rerelease of their greatest hits and we don’t even have a release date for Classic BC let alone a roadmap for what happens after Classic Wrath ends.

Just how I look at it as a consumer.

Probably because I have paid about 3k in sub fees alone since 05.

A lifetime sub would cost like 4k

You don’t want lifetime subs for WoW.

Lifetime subs when it comes to MMO’s means the game is legit dying and the company is trying to squeeze the last bit of money out of the games loyal player base that it can get.

Bad idea, look at other games that did it, they now rely soley on a cash shop and the most powerful items are only in said cash shop
