Wow launcher.exe missing or moved?

Perhaps this has been addressed in another post somewhere or maybe it belongs in technical support. I started up my computer this morning and the WoW icon was just a white page with a blue arrow at the bottom and says the launcer.exe is missing or was moved. I started up battle.net and instead of the play button it says install.

I am mainly wanting to know what caused this to happen. I was playing fine last night and didn’t do or change anything. I just logged out and turned off my computer. Turn it on today and now it wants me to reinstall all of a sudden.

A number of issues can cause this, but usually it’s OneDrive or sync software relocating the install to the cloud. Sometimes it’s security software quarantining the files.

So what is the best way to resolve this if it happens again? Was rather irritating to reinstall the game/addons and get all my settings back to how I like them.

Unfortunately, some tracking of your computer’s recent activities would be needed for that, which is generally beyond what is supported on the forum. This would be an issue for a PC tech.
