I mean… I pay a mortgage to the bank… and I had to spend real money on it… and there was a downpayment from my account… but I never gave the old owners any money so it’s totally free!
unpopular opinion here… we as a community made this game p2w…you know and carries and or boosts have always been a thing just not as huge as it is now,I remember being a kid and my friends dad running us through rfc… now difference now is we as a community have grown lazy we no longer boost for the fact we need or want help or found a fast method to level we do it now because it’s convenient. and while.blizzard is definitely reaping the benefits we created this. and how do you as a company fix a social or community issue? anyway I do agree wow def has the p2w option however

Duh…you get the gear to have .5 damage better on logs. People can pay 5 million to be 123456.5 damage. Not 123456.
I suck at shaman. I could pay 5 mil to get guaranteed gear to me carries. I’d still suck at shaman. I’d win nothing except a 5 million gold char cost in a class/spec that is not me. I’d call that p2l. Pay to lose…

I pay 15 a month to run basic to medium stuff and content with that. Many of us like that. No higher aspirations that need us to pay 5 million gold after token buys looking like a good idea in anyway…
I literally walk into lfr as soon as i can (171 iirc) run it for memories on new classes. Place on meters? DOn’t care. Did we clear wing not spending tons of gold on repairs? Awesome. Got memory? Done. Maybe a rerun for anima on weakly resets. Maybe…(more like not).
My raid goals are legacy. I don’t need to get carry gear. Although I won’t lie…to end the pain of invincible if an NPC said pay me 10k for 10% increases in chances at mount I’d pay 100K to end invincible grind.
But not P2W there. I have 1 million gold split between WRA and MG. Gold is there already lol. Earned that gold raw gold farming prior to gold nerfs of prepatch changes.
See I play xcom too sometimes. I know at even 90% I can miss. Alot. With a shotgun at point blank range for the wtf!!! moments that make xcom…xcom.
Go play an actual game with P2W elements, then come back…

You can buy mythic gear from the auction house, unless they stopped doing that. I guess they think that doesn’t qualify as pay to win, since you buy gold, then buy the gear. It’s not direct from the store so it’s not pay to win right?

I am just going to walk the line and say that WoW is not pay to win, I play some pay to win games and I don’t pay (fill in the rest.)
But WoW is closer to pay to win than it should be, with carry culture absolutely out of control. It definitely ruins the spirit of the game seeing constant ads for carries in every form of content.

But you would need to pay for so many carries, that it would be beyond the weekly token and just stupid. Peeps that buy carries usually just buy a few to get 70% caught up. No one that buys carries can outplay the person that sells carries. This is not p2w. This is slight catch up. Kind of like for dipping fries.
So if Blizz sold the gear directly it wouldn’t be pay to win either since the person buying the gear still couldn’t beat said person. Am I right?

Paying cash to get your gear if you don’t have somebody to give you a free carry. Sounds pretty borderline to me.
It would be and it wouldn’t since p2w means different things to different people. Blizz could put legit everything in the game on the shop, every. single. thing. All the gear, transmog, toys, pets, mounts, achievements, whatever and people would say it isn’t p2w because all that junk 1. Isn’t “winning” and 2. Is available without paying 
This whole conversation isn’t going to go anywhere because you’re all having a conversation about different things.

That’s what Blizz should do then, right? People buy a token then buy the gear they want. Nobody gets scammed, the majority of the carry spam goes away, people can get whatever gear they want.
And …
Blizz makes more money!
I’m not the one to ask lol, makes no difference to me what they sell because I’ll just get it in game eventually. If people want to buy all the things go right ahead, I’ll be in Legion raids on the 10th alt (when they fix scaling 
)
You can do it in one Mythic raid when 70% of the raid is your loot spec.
