Why do you people play video games if you dont actually want to be challenged in the face of the possibility of failure?
Because I get that from my real life job. When I play video games I want to just smash things without consequence or challenge.
When I play TW games I play on the easiest difficulty
When I play Minecraft I just play on normal survival
I love Graveyard Keeper.
MMORPGs really is just something I play in the downtime to just run around and quest.
I get more out of Classic at this point than I do in retail just because Classic doesn’t zoom me to content difficulties that are similar to playing keyboard DDR.
That’s what multiple difficulty levels are for. You have easier stuff where you can relax without much of a challenge and then you have ones that will prove a little bit more difficult and require effort from the players.
By the way, I hate that weird forum thing when I cannot quote an entire post even when it’s literally two lines long.
OP is correct. Shadowlands is not hard, it’s lazy.
Target dummies are probably your thing.
It is the effect of participation awards and never having an opportunity to learn from failure with safety nets everywhere.
I am confused as to why having challenging content for those that enjoy it, and more laid back content for those that enjoy it is hurting anyone?
Tedious does not mean “hard”… Bait thread is bait.
Because real life has plenty of that for most people how dare they want to not fail in a fake world here .
If only other video games existed. Nope, it’s only WoW, you can’t possibly play a different game if you just want to relax. We all need to make WoW braindead easy for everyone just so mr. Seaisleice can “smash things without consequence”.
I too, go on strategy games forums and ask them to reduce CPU skill because “i just want to smash things”. And no, doing content that’s appropriate to my expected difficulty won’t work. The entire game has to be catered to MEEEEE!
Has the intelligence of the typical forum poster dropped a dozen points? Where was anything even remotely like that said? He says he doesn’t want to be challenged. There is plenty to do that doesn’t challenge you in game, and he didn’t ask for a single change. His preference is to play rather mindlessly, so what’s wrong with that? In no way, shape or form did he ask for anything to be changed. All he said was his playstyle preference.
The social requirements of end game content in WoW does make a big difference. Teamwork and communication is probably the biggest hurdle in WoW.
different games , different people, different tastes and moods…
i love city builders
no need to shove Sekiro down everyone’s throat
The arrogance in this thread I find to be funny. Just because I don’t enjoy the “challenging” content people have suggested I don’t like video games, or that maybe I should just stick to my lane. Here’s what I have supported:
-
Compared to WoW Classic, WoW Retail has completely abandoned their game from 1-60. Therefore they need to reinvest in the leveling experience and not make it as easy as it is currently. Slow it down more and make players take longer to the endgame. If players want to skip that they can buy a boost up to 50. Just like you can buy tokens with gold, you should be able to do the same with lvl 50 boosts.
-
Add more details to quests. Not go to this zone here complete 5 fetch, 2 kill, and deliver quest and move on to the next zone. Right now WoW retail basically just tells you upfront see all this leveling content that old devs made a long time ago? Well it’s not important.
-
Make bigger zones. I like the idea of flying but I think the biggest issue I face right now with WoW Retail is that there’s so much more depth added to the instances that the overworld is just kinda slapped on
-
WoW needs to start thinking of making something of value that’s not tied to adventuring. Be it a complete profession overhaul, player housing, or something right now there’s really only one item to chase in this game and it’s the current BiS for your spec. That’s it. Not really much of a choice there and the game really doesn’t offer a happy middle ground between grinding challenges and then it becoming difficult for the sake of being difficult.
BTW I do read books. Just going to start Rick Pearlstein’s book on Barry Goldwater. so thank you very much.
Personally I liked MMORPGs when I felt there was a need to explore. WoW Classic scratches that itch. Right now Retail is what I post about the most because it’s the largest and most played MMORPG and I personally think that without talking about flaws within it’s current gameplay and design the MMORPG genre kinda gets stuck.
I also would like to see a adventurers journal detailing how M+ works, what the recommended ilvl is for each instance of M+ and I’d like a mode where you don’t need a key to run a dungeon.
If I wanted that, Id go to work. Challenge and failure is everything I use video games to avoid. Different strokes for different folks.
It may be hard to imagine, but some people play video games to relax. An hour of mindless game play is as good as a fifth of scotch after a long day.
Where are you seeing all these people claiming WoW is “too hard”? I agree it is an absurd claim, but I don’t think I ever hear people making that assertion.
I, personally am in the ‘wow is too hard’ camp. I really like difficult games when they are single player or 2player co-op (mage tower and Kanrethad was my favorite content ever). More than that, it becomes annoying because getting in a group where everyone is really good is like finding a unicorn. Blizzard designs raids to be challenging for the literal best players in the world, so what happens to everyone else? Only like 480 guilds have actually cleared mythic (not to mention the paid carries)? Considering the amount of players, that’s absurd.
Nobody is shoving Sekiero down everyone’s throat.
