WoW is no longer about story apparently

Sylvanas see’s that Zooval was the entire reason behind the lich king, but still served him. Now she’s surprised he wants everyone to serve?

Then rather than betraying him in the secret, she tries to shoot at an arrow at the man she just helped empowered. The same man who empowered her… Do the writers even care anymore or is this game just a cash grab at this point…

(not to mention his final form looking like a bad armor set, was hoping he’d look like a grand mage or something. The primus transformation was way more intense.

Sylvanas is basically Trisha Paytas at this point. Being hired for a podcast then getting mad she has no actual creative power in the podcast

She’s the ultimate “idiot’s idea of a genius”.

She is intensely stupid and her plans are glaringly flawed, but the writer’s depict her as if she weren’t the slack-jawed and drooling moron most players regard her as, because they aren’t much better.

As much as I feel the story is fatiguing and badly written, I do think I understand why things are the way they are. WoW is, of course, a globally distributed game, so it’s being sold in other countries. What kind of story they are telling as well as how you tell that story has to be kept simple or it may not cross the cultural barriers for people in other countries easily. Same goes with a lot of Hollywood movies, too, especially when there’s such a huge market value in places like China.

do you really need that question answered…or was it just rhetorical?

I agree with trying to shoot him after he just went super sayian is dumb. But to say his armor looks bad, you are high.

I thought the ending was kind of cool though - given the meh story.

Spoiler

Did he just grant her her life back (she is high elf again) and then left her there to deal with all the people she’s screwed over (presumably thinking they will just kill her again)?

That’s a rhetorical question, right?

That’s what it looks like to me

Did…. You just make the argument that the story has to be kept simple because the rest of the world outside America would be too stupid to understand it otherwise?

No, I mean other countries have their own cultural values, beliefs, and story-related concepts and ours don’t easily translate. It’s like how some languages can’t be translated one-to-one and need context and understanding of the way it’s used to properly translate to the other language. But the more complicated the story gets, the harder it is to find that common ground and there’s also the higher probability of stepping on some cultural toes in the process; like Left 4 Dead’s box cover art being changed because two back-facing fingers up is a rude gesture in some countries.

If you’ve been playing WoW for the story you’re in the wrong game.

The story stopped mattering as soon as we went back in time to stop the burning legion lmfao.

I think the story is fine. It will never be Oscar worthy, and I don’t expect it to be. Yes, there are weak spots (looking at you patch 8.3), but it hasn’t been so bad that I would stop caring about the characters and the lore.

Wait Yonbi! Did you just make him seemingly randomly giving back her soul and freeing the people not onky make sense but seem kind of cool?

He is basically just thinks he is toying with all of them and he just wanted to have the chaos insue.

Well done, I like it and this is what I am going with happened was intended lol

Now just have to work out why Sylvana is grade stupid and didnt see his betrayal coming

EDIT: This does not mean it was a good plan of his, lol. Hubris and all that stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

Story bad! I don’t like it therefore its bad! Plz like post and describe to my channel.

Danuser seems sincere which is just sad considering the dogsh1t story he feels compelled to tell.

Honestly The lore was always a pastiche of fantasy rpg tropes, whatever film or other fiction the devs were into, along with a few original and inventive ideas (troll and elf relationship). It only worked because it didn’t take itself too seriously. The public faces of Blizzard seem serious now, and favor boring exposition of their lore at the expense of compelling gameplay. I mean what was the scenario ‘defending the Primus’?

The “I will never serve” line after doing everything Zovaal wanted up until that point is just so funny.

You really have to try to write a story that makes absolutely no sense.
