At the end of Shadowlands WoW will, in one way or another, take place in a different universe. It will reset everything and basically start over.
You heard it here first! Remember my name, son!

They don’t have the staff to do WoW2 anymore. I would NOT be surprised to see them “retire” old Xpacs however (“If you want to experience the Wrath storyline you only have 3 months until it is gone forever!”)
A different universe?
Galaxy of Starcraft!
I want to play a Dark Templar.
Nothing here makes sense. It would take more work to “retire” the wrath storyline than to just…do nothing.
k thx
Im down.
i want to see what they can do with a clean slate.
I have a feeling it’s going to just be a huge time jump, where we come out and it’s like 30-40 years later and we’re just the heroes of old that people thought were lost in the shadowlands.
Classic: Vanilla through Wrath
Retail: CatAzeroth/MoP/Warlords/Legion/etc.
…but why?
What do they gain by removing the first few expansion storylines fro retail?
thats a interesting idea. Maybe anduin can grow a mainly beard by then.
Smaller footprint, easier to maintain. Scaled back application for a smaller staffing level.
I have no reason to believe they have a smaller staffing level.
And how do you have less maintenance than “zero”?
This will never happen…UNLESS existing players are able to carry over their progress.
Even the execs have to know that WoW’s advantage is the stickiness of its player base, relative to other franchises like OW or Hearthstone. Removing decades of /played would only give those sticky players a reason to quit MMOs for good.
Very odd imo to assume this, seeing as they’re adding further customization for character creation in Shadowlands, along with a level squish, new leveling system etc. Why do all that if they’re planning to scrap / reset for WoW 2? Plus they spent all this time in BFA adding the Allied Races. Blizzard wouldn’t waste development time and resources like that, just to push the reset button 2 years later. At most, they’ll likely do an in lore timeskip of a couple decades, but ultimately we won’t see much change to the actual world I expect. Maybe just some new characters and faces.
But you would still have those new races as options and WoW before this happens still exist.
Hitting it pretty hard for a Friday afternoon … why not ease into the weekend with 1/4 of your brain cells still alive.
Sorry, several of us forum-goers said it months ago when SL was announced. Back of the line, alt.
they cant keep adding to the game forever without doing something about old stuff
at least thats what destiny says and they are owned by the same company
less then zero is -1.
Yeah.
So it can be just like Overwatch 2.
Same game. Same look. Same characters.
But there’s a 2 now.
