Those peak searches are from Legion, BfA and Shadowlands pre patch and launch eras. Along with their Classic launches/Burning crusade Classic announcement
You see, even 5 years of searching up MMOs like those I listed, WoW will always be at top, no matter what
All those topics about “lul New World/FFXIV will kill WoW” and what not is just all smoke
No matter what Blizzard does with WoW, the game will still go on, because people will still come back to it.
I’m honestly puzzled by the number of people who determine how much they enjoy something by how many other people also enjoy it. I guess it’s like the pop music mindset: “oh, i don’t like that song anymore, it’s from like six months ago, nobody listens to it now”
When the media mentions a riding accident at a fair in the news the term “rodeo” also peaks in search engines but that doesnt mean people are lining up to be bareback riders.
IDK about retail because it really doesn’t appeal to me this time around yet.
But Classic is booming right now. I assume the news of the TBC servers really got people invested over there. It got me invested. I had no interest in level 60 end game, but TBC is something that has me excited, far more than their 9.1 announcements.
Same game, same subscription, so even if Retail was absolutely dead (I know it isn’t) you’d still see the influence Classic has on the game right now.
I think part of it comes from anxiety among the devoted fans of the game about how long it’s going to be around. More interest means a higher likelihood that it’s generating income and will be around for years.
To be fair, you don’t need google to know that phrase was and is never correct.
Also R.I.P to FF14 for google labeling it as a 2010 video game and not an online game like the others. I would not be surprised that if a bot did that.
One chart doesn’t mean much. You gotta look at the history. WoW started off slow, grew large, and now mostly fizzles with a few pops here and there. I remember the days where servers would be packed all times of the day. Now all servers are phased and you still hardly find a person playing. Don’t need a chart to show you that. It’s such an interesting game you’d rather be writing about it than playing lol
WoW can’t die because the people that claim to hate it the most are the ones that refuse to let it go. You have players saying this game has sucked since legion, but are still here and still calling it a bad game.
Hey, I just wanted to chime in and say this graph indicates a few things, also a contradiction with atleast one of OP’s motives. Since Discord is the citation here, we can only assume this means the interest of people who searched these terms using googles search engine. In general, information gathering on these forums is lackluster and fails to create a strong enough case against an equally biased opinion. However, I understand the need to push back when a bias seems to bandwagon, but this behavior isn’t going to help your cause or theirs. In the end it just appears to others that you’re trying to vent and this is a personal issue at its core.
Try to relax and not get so worked up about these things Oh, about that contradiction… Unfortunately, all things inevitably end. Even the world.
