It’s no mystery that WoW is dieing. Poor design choices and a severe lack of interaction with the community, compounded with several in house problems at Blizzard are setting the stage for the death of WoW.
The game doesn’t have to die. There is still millions of dollars to be made and countless hours of entertainment available if Blizzard and the Dev team is willing to put in the effort.
The first steps are simple:
-
Look at talent stats and make all talents which are selected over 80% of the time baseline abilities/passives. This includes PvP talents.
-
Look at all other talents and redesign/replace them with abilities/passives that CHANGE THE WAY YOU PLAY the spec.
-
Publish a road map for the aforementioned changes by class.
-
Create a schedule for interaction with players with regards to Class changes and stick to it. Listen/read concerns and feedback and then reply. You can do this via these forums, twitter, Reddit, Facebook, a standing blog… Etc.
The above represents a very simple method for increasing subs and sub retention by reacquiring the recently lost trust/faith of loyal fans.

WoW is not anywhere close to “death”. But yes, sub numbers are most likely dropping.

Not that I think WoW is dying or on Death’s Door, but even if it was… your only solution is Class Design? Seems a little light on effectiveness.
But, it sounds like this is the only issue you have, so that’s nice.

Based on everything humanity has come to know, and the observable universe. I’d say all evidence points to the death of everything at some point or another. So I don’t think wow would be an exception to this.

Actually it is a mystery because WoW isn’t dying. You can keep trying to tell yourself that, but it is still has the most active players of the mmos. People seriously need to stop reaching.

So what you’re saying is you’ll be posting another WoW is dying thread on the forums in the next four years or so when this game is still running? See ya then!
Eventually, the servers that wow are on will stop working.
The good news is that our sun will explode far earlier than the full heat-death of the universe.
WoW is not dying, it’s just aging. It’s still one of the most successful MMORPGs out there on the Market, and it has a lot of potential as not just a game entry in an Intellectual Property, but also as an intellectual property, to become as popular as it was at it’s height.
To live is to die.
Maybe not now, but in a decade, perhaps longer. We know not how long the road is but when the end does come, may we leave this pixel existence with out our arms filled with loot.
Aman’Thul willing we’ll all meet again in WoW2: The Search for more Gold.
That is some prime armchair devery right there.

I’m going to need a more specific definition of death.
Wow has been dying since day one, yet it persists.
That said, there is always room for improvements.
