Maybe you’ve always had a story in your head about your WoW main and wondered what it’d be like to play that story. Maybe you’re an experienced RPer but the last couple of xpacs just didn’t inspire you, or maybe you’ve RP’d in D&D or other MMOs but never in WoW. Maybe you’re feeling that mid-xpac slump, or maybe you’re bored with the gear grind and the Mythic+ madness.
Well roleplay, my friends and fellow WoW players, is the one thing about WoW that will always be fun, no matter the expansion or the game mechanics or the fickle RNG gods. It’s social, it’s creative, it’s fun, it’s storytelling.
The Storm Glaive (Alliance, Moon Guard) is recruiting both new and experienced RPers! (No, we don’t ERP.) We’re a smallish, friendly, medium- to heavy-RP guild with an active Discord, respectful of each other and of other players. Our theme is that of merchant fleet with our official privateer letter of marque, which affords us a broad and solid framework on which to tell a lot of different kinds of stories. We have a few merchant-and-passenger vessels, a warship to defend us, a stealth ship for recon and super sekrit missions, characters ranging from a shy void-researcher to an adventuresome salvage hunter, an archmage, a spy, a guy who claims he’s just a dock worker but the spy thinks there’s more to him than he’s letting on, a draenei who’s the sweetest person you’ll ever meet except for maybe her pet direhorn, our adorable explosives expert who can kill you with her pinky, engineers, inventors, merchants, tinkers, tailors, soldiers – you get the picture.
We skew chaotic good, but your character doesn’t have to be a relentless do-gooder rescuing cats from trees; we have some characters who are genuinely morally grey (not swinging wildly between randomly heroic and randomly horrible, but legit hard choices, ends justifying means, sins to make up for, red in our ledger). …we’re not gonna stop you from rescuing cats either, though, and we’ll probably build the ladder for you and patch up the scratches afterwards. Some of our RP takes place aboard one of the ships of our small fleet, sometimes we have naval battles or fight sea monsters, but we also spend a great deal of time on land or undersea. We’ve just escaped a haunted forest and some very angry dryads, and we’re about to embark on a mission with another guild to help resettle kaldorei refugees in Feralas. After that, we have markets to attend and rare artifacts to sell! And we’ll probably have R&R at the Steam Pools again sometime soon because I just like it there.
