If WoW housing isn’t 100% customizable, then I don’t want it.
Garrisons sucked because everything was modular and there was no actual building or personal design involved. The developers gave you pre-selected plots, with premade buildings and preset boundaries and it lack all creativity and personal preference.
If we get Garrisons 2.0, then it’ll just be another 1-off that will be abandoned after the expansion ends.
I think they should give us from-scratch house building. Actual building, piece by piece. Let US create the buildings. Let Us pick where we place objects and furniture and trophies.
The whole modular plug-and-play design of Garrisons was uninspired to say the least. Let us be creative and have fun and put our own stamp on something in this game for once.
Are there ANY games currently doing this? I know there were some back in the day, but nowadays I cant think of any game that has something like that.
There’s a 99% chance that its going to be garrison/ESO like with specific spots that the available houses are kocated at…
And i would say there’s a 1% chance they copy FF14…but if that happens, the forums will flood with salt, lol (Housing zone with limited plots and a lottery to get one)
Im willing to bet its similar to ESO/SWTOR. Instanced Locations for the houses with anchor points to put your cool little widgets and trophys you buy off the cash shop, I mean earn in game.
My biggest issue with Garrisons was the time gating and how heavily chores were implemented. For actual housing, I would almost want to be a vanity like Transmoging, otherwise I foresee similar issues.
When they implemented, then eventually removed the Garrison stuff from the app, that felt like a Godsend.
I can see the appeal of housing to some extent, but I would rather have a more interactive form of Garrison that heavily pushed doing content with rewards, rather than a place to only chill in.
If it adds some form of utility (Home Hearthstone) + acquirable portal hubs to place, I could see myself investing heavily.
There is no source, but we can look at examples in game.
For example, how many free placed toys can the engine handle before everything starts lagging? From our experiences with the group events in DF and TWW, the answer is not that many. And, right now, toys are the only free placement items we have.
I guess it is possible that they use a completely different system…but I agree with the person you’re responding to, Im skeptical the game could handle it
Every zone and city in the game is made by “modular, piece-by-piece building” at this point, there is zero reason they couldn’t do it beside the fact that it would cost them money and not bring anything extra profit wise into the game.
I’ll play The Sims if all I want to do is decorate a house. I think garrisons were on the right track with activities you could do depending how you set things up.
Well, since they’re a company owned by Microsoft, that is a huge reason since they probably dont want to get shut down, lol. Gotta keep them numbers up.
This is a good question, most do work with purchasing a house nowadays like the Amazon MMO, Archage and the like. Lost Ark has an island, but you can not build there, except for cosmetic stuff and your farming plots.
You just upgrade buildings or unlock them, Archage had the disadvantage of having to rent a plot for your house, but many guilds did block them so as a casual you could actually never have a house. (when I played)
Palia does look decent, but I am not sure how far customization goes there.
As for WOW, I do believe we will be able to purchase a home in the major cities like Stormwind, Orgrimmar… There is quite some space there, that could serve as a gate to an appartment sort of things and the trailer does indicate that as the signs of both cities lay on the floor.
Another option may be an entire zone at the Midnight continent, but I would not like that at all. It would be like WOD Garrisons 2.0, where you never go back to after the expansion is done, so it won´t receive any further updates by Blizz.
Positive is, that in the trailer we see some kind of achievements at the walls, so I suppose we can decorate our home based on what we did in the past. But if it´s just a single room, then this won´t be much.
My point being the engine isn’t the issue and its wild that ANYONE on the planet would think that. And lets not pretend that microsoft is now the reason they only care about profits, blizzard has been just as money hungry for over a decade now…
This is not a survive game. Other mmorpg housing systems don’t works like you’re asking. All houses are premade, you can only change the objects inside.
Edit:
I’m sorry, i replied you for mistake, my post was to the OP.
