Wow Healer's Experience; The Good Times, and The Bad Times

As a healer in Wow. You have done everything possible to Protect and Heal your party. But Bliz keeps changing things by Nerfing or Buffing different classes multiple times during Wow’s long history. Including every expansion. This has also affected your ability to perform your job as a healer. At times making healing a lot harder and at other times easier. By changing your abilities and spells and gear stats.

Add to this These periodic changes in the abilities and spells of all the classes has an impact on how other group members abilities and spells interact with your abilities and spells. Then we also have changes in the level mechanics.

And last. There is the situation where expansions at times may bring in an influx of new players who don’t understand how to play their classes in a group. This also may include old players trying out a new unfamiliar class.

One thing that was a glaring issue for some healers was Mana generation and cost. An other is that some Healers require more attention to detail and mechanics than others.

Taking all this into consideration. I would ask you this; In your experience, What was the best time in the history of Wow that you as a Healer were at top performance and had an easier time of healing your group. And what was the worst time?

I get a few “great heals” in dungeons which is nice and also lots of “trash heals” in pvp. To be fair I am a bad healer in pvp but they don’t have to say it. I’m even more petty than I am bad so I don’t heal people who are rude to me and cackle when they die/lose.

This is why you can’t trust gnomes. :eyes:

You can trust me if you’re nice. I’m good to those who are good to me. (At least, I try to be)

If someone is rude to me in solo shuffle and the other teammate defends me I will try to win the match for that nice player. If they say nothing, bye bye wins. And it’s not a problem because apparently we wouldn’t get them anyway.

Never ran out on Mana on my Resto Shaman in Wrath. Felt invincible as Holy Priest in SL.

that’s an interesting question…it’s hard to gauge “top performance” because i think i get better as a druid every xpac…

however, i feel like the best times for me were when i had the most freedom to customize my playstyle. so Azerite Armor + Essences + Corruption felt really good because no two resto druids were ever the same…and everyone had their own unique twist on how they liked to play the spec.

it was also this BfA era that i felt the most powerful as a resto druid :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

i’ve enjoyed resto druid since i started one - through all the ups and downs…but i’d have to say the worst was probably MoP when they had a massive amount of homogenization and that’s when they simplified the talent trees too iirc…or it was around that era. so i’d say that was my least favorite - gameplay wise.

I was a new player in WoD, having started at the end of MoP. I spent the second half of the expansion in Ashran, where my resto shaman would spam chain heal and get the compliment “Great Heals!”

Meh, that’s as it should be, if you’re going to trash talk me as a healer then I hope you brought a lot of leech.

My friend helped me set up my priest as shadow for Ashran. I would stand on top of a bridge, dot up players below me with Shadow Word: Pain, and hit Cascade. Good times.

Yes Cascade was good times. Too bad they got rid of it.

MoP. Golden era for healers where we still had more old school stuff such as spirit that gave us choice to build into mana regen if we needed/wanted while having more modern class designs that made most specs and absolute blast to play. I miss holy paladin’s being absorb healers rather than the jank melee healers they are now. Resto Druid mastery was also much more engaging and enjoyable than what we have now

I also enjoyed tank vengeance as you got to flex your burst healing to keep the psychopaths alive while they take as much damage as they could before you’d watch them skyrocket on both healing & DPS meters

Not sure what is best and worst, but healing in DF has been pretty fun so far.

super fun spell

Ya it really was. I still remember it from mop. It was amazing seeing it bouncing around the raid healing everyone. And it was really fun as shadow in bg’s bouncing all over the place.

Elric was a bank alt in Wrath, when LFD started I was going in as ele since I’d never healed before and I took that time to play AH but early dungeons weren’t nearly as face roll then so I would often have to off heal to keep the tank alive. The tanks often would ask me to take over healing and I got better, eventually the tank asked me to stay after the instance and was telling me how I was wasting my time as a dps. In BGs people would /cheer me when I saved them, that wasn’t necessary just give me some help when I need it.

Worst was WoD. Alliance had a 60:40 advantage in random BGs which was worse than it sounds. I rarely had another healer on my team, alliance went out of their way to punish horde healers even bypassing flag carriers. It was rough but when I tried to dps we usually had no healers.

Lets see best and worst healer moments… I played a resto shaman back in cata and it was actually pretty cool being able to keep the raid alive without draining my mana too quickly. Only downside to that time was people kept stealing items I needed on drops for some dumb reason.
Worst time I’ve had as a healer was again as a shaman in I believe it was somewhere in warlords, I was healing and I kept the entire team alive quite well but then the tank pulled an entire room plus boss and the raid party members got hit by debuffs that lowered healing recieved and we wiped big time. I self rez and start trying to revive everyone only to see a loading screen and told I’d been removed from the party and also got the debuff one gets for abandoning a raid. I asked a guildmate who was still in the raid what happened and he told me the tank vote kicked me under the reason of ‘fail healer’ which he said made no sense as I had the highest healing numbers on the recount. So I figure okay I’ll try again the next day… only to be getting kicked the second I pop in because of people from that one tank’s guild who all thought griefing a healer was funny. Outside of that I’ve only ever healed for five man dungeons and yeah no it’s no fun being blamed for people being dumb and not overpulling then blaming me. I even told the tank once that hey if you pull the entire room plus boss again while I’m recovering my mana I’m letting you die… only for the tank to try and call my bluff and not getting healed only to boot me for not healing him.

Classic: Holy Priest
BC - WoLTK: Resto Shammy
Monk (it was just fun)
SL - Disc Priest

Vanilla. Back then I cared.
