Wow has sub spec changed a lot

What’s the optimal way to play sub these days ?

I hadn’t played rogue since I guess Mists. Used to love sub spec, being sneaky and unloading with SS or ambush, forget which they had at the time. Thought about playing rogue again. I started a trial character as my rogue alt is low level, to see how they felt these days at higher levels.

Seems like an empty spec and sorely in need of a couple more baseline abilities. Couldn’t believe the one core attack is just backstab, seems laughable really like an unfinished spec. Assination and Outlaw both seem more like true finished specs than sub, they also have enough abilities where they feel more fun and balanced. Not sure if I’m missing something, if the few abilities is due to the spec putting out insane burst in BFA or what not.

agreed. sub rogue atm is a shell of its former self. its spec design rn reminds me of a sub rogue spinoff design from another game company

The best way to play sub is to play assassination.

I think you may be missing something. Try some of those spells that begin with Shadow!

You what? Sub has probably the most skills of all the specs I have found. I had to entirely reorganize my action bars and keybinds which I have had since vanilla just to fit all the skills where my fingers can reach. In fact, I rather think shadow dance has on the whole, done nearly as much damage to subtlety as recuperate did to the class.
