When WoW first came out, it closely resembled EQ. it was chill most of all. Now it’s become too gogogo, slam some gogo juice, rage at group members, bing bing, MORE loot!!.. kinda mmo game?
I know there’s someone that can explain it better but what I miss most about MMOs was just chilling with a group for hours and farming camps in the world. And the best part is that EVERYONE was included. Not just the guys with the highest IO or ILVL or whatever. Anyways… keeping my eye out for the next EQ game.

You seem to want more of a social experience than an actual game. But if you’re talking about an actual grindy game while being completely reliant on others than you should try Bitcraft Online, its on the steam store.

Back in the day, this game was both. I know people like to dismiss other people‘s opinions about the past and then mock them for using nostalgia, but sometimes looking to the past is a reference point and not simply a reminisce. Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it but the history of this game was pretty solid.

I started with WoW. And I had no idea what EQ was. And it seems I dont want to experience EQ. EQ people come to WoW not the other way around.
There is still World Boss and Arathi World Event. I like it now than what we had before.

The rose tinted glasses are real. WoW has had gatekeeping elitists since day 1. The game is more casual friendly than it’s ever been. It’s not about the gogogo if you don’t want it to be. Your people are out there.

IDK man, I found a pretty cool guild in EQ. Something which I have not been able to do after many years in WoW. I bought the basic edition to midnight so I might pop in for the release. I used the boost on a pally. But I’ve pretty much played all specs of all classes and it just feels like there’s nothing left for me in WoW.

It’s evolved, and survived this long because of that.

I have a job, family, life
Inline videos game. I can spend 60 min in overwatch feel happy and go to sleep.
If there is no go go go in wow I will be here forever.
How will I get gear. Imagine i have to black rocks depth on a Monday. How bro in need to be up at 5.30 man.
I heading to bed now at 12.23 when the game is fun and easy.
Imagine what would happen to me in classic. I don’t even play classic for this reason.

Not sure what you’re getting at. XP groups are fluid. People come and go whenever they want… I don’t raid in EQ just like I don’t in WoW.
Although these days it’s more like an XP duo/trio…

It has. We have enabled people who seek to dissolve the Horde and keep the Alliance around only. These people need to be ignored at all costs.

Tossing this out there: RP servers, especially if you’re a lore nerd. It’s also very much a misconception that you’ve got to be in character all the time. Even if you’re only doing it on a casual basis and not often, just coming up with a backstory for your character can be a ton of fun.
You might actually surprise yourself with how fun they can be. If you go that route however, check out a few of the servers and see if you find one that fits as one RP server should never be a clear indicator of the server as a whole (especially as some of the smaller ones have seemingly been taken over by non-RP players)
I’m in an all gnome guild. Even just chatting with the others here in G4 has been very different. The last few weeks have been some of the most chill I’ve had in WoW in a very long time.

I do feel the game is faster pace than it was 20 or so years ago, boss fights didn’t have enrage timers so even you can take your time (or as long as the healer mana lasted) with a raid boss, and there’s so much to do now especially now with delves where you don’t need to find people for group content.
But I do feel with housing it bring back the chill factor back in to the game where you can just be online and make your house and no doubt there’s going to be groups running content for housing items.

I think they’re making an effort at providing content with chill vibes. Delves feel a lot more like those old school dungeons than current ones. Housing is going to be chill by design. There are plenty of outdoor grinds and the Prey system is looking to make them a lot more interesting. I’m happy with the direction.

I’ve met lots of these gnomes in open world. Really tough shells but perfectly nice once you get them open! They share a shard with a very social Tauren guild called the Redwood Tribe. I don’t hang with them often because tauren seem to mostly eat soup.

The same thing hapoened to eq. They took away the necessity for resting before wow did. They gave the ability to buy potion versions of the buffs people used to rely on other players for. I havent played in years so i dont know what other changes came about but im sure it is similarly changed akin to the wow changes.
