I realize probably nobody cares about this, but I just want to vent about this game for a minute.
I started when I was 7 on my aunts account in early TBC, and the game was SO much fun. Many buttons, not many addons, simple mechanics, simple people, WAY less toxicity… PvP was even fun.
Mists of Pandaria had the best endgame and raids ever for me, PvP was an absolute blast, every piece actually felt like an upgrade rather than just “oh hey I have to have this or I suck”.
Fast forward to DF, this expansion just makes me depressed. It feels as though it has no soul, there’s no “big bad”, like I’m not much of a story person, but I do miss having a big villain at the end of every expansion. Fyrakk is cool yeah, but I felt like having alexstraza or Iridikron try to wreak havoc would’ve been a lot better.
I do not like professions, and being forced to do them for endgame gear is just bad imo. I realize most like it, just I don’t.
The class tuning has been a joke, Shadow started off amazing, and now this season is laughably bad compared to its counterparts.
PvP is also laughable. Most melee using zero defensives, zero CDs, and just popping every offensive in the opener to 1800 rating is just hilarious, and being a shadow/holy main I sit here and take a beating because I’m ALWAYS to blame, even when they die out of LoS or they’re across the entire map from me and there’s no chance I can make it there in time due to being slow or CC’d.
I can’t even find a guild anymore because I just don’t fit anywhere. I’m autistic and 90% of people have absolutely no idea how to deal with it because I take nearly everything literal and I hate it.
Sorry for the rant, I just dunno what to do. I love wow, but I do not love what it has become.
You know what makes me sad? People that play WoW that apparently still haven’t discovered the fact other games exist.
If you get bored, play something else.
What makes me sad, is opening a bag of chips and realize it’s 60% air.
I have never played another game. Don’t plan to either, I’ll just sell my PC if I quit wow.
Well, you can use the cash to get yourself something nice.
I already see posting this here was a total waste of my time lmfao
You know what makes me sad, sarcastic replies to someone that is kind of just being a genuine person. God this community SUCKS!
You are a fountain of snarky comments Sabbia
I mean I’m not sure what you expected. It’s not like anyone here can help you with design decisions of the developers lol.
Well it sucks that you feel that way about WoW, but what can anyone here do about that?
If you read the forums, and the fact the person responded to it, you would know it isn’t sarcastic lol.

Just ignore these people, they think it is their full time job to defend Blizzard on these forums.
I agree with you, wow has lost the original appeal it had. The esport attitude has taken over. My only enjoyment now comes from random bgs.
Next expansion, they are making more single player content. At least there is a light for us retired raiders to look at.

True. I’m probably the biggest Blizz defender here on the forums.
Blizzard = #1!!
Blizzard popcorn.
Cheese or Caramel?
You have valuable insider knowledge that must be exploited.

True. I’m probably the biggest Blizz defender here on the forums.
Don’t you dare come for my title!
Nostalgia is like a bittersweet drug, and you’re right as far as the game seems to have lost it soul - or heart, though.
I play another game, but because WoW was/is my first love, so to speak, it is difficult sometimes to “feel” the fun. It’s there though in small doses.
Every once in awhile there’s a gorgeous field, or a new & stunning rare that will actually drop. There’s sweet story lines in there too - with a nasty bad guy in a cave you can’t find! Lol the usual WoW fun.
Have you ever considered you’re playing the wrong spec? Or try a different class and race. There plenty to challenge you.

I’m autistic and 90% of people have absolutely no idea how to deal with it because I take nearly everything literal and I hate it.
Yeah, but this really isn’t on your guild to deal with, but rather this lies squarely on you. I also have autism, and you know what, I had to learn to socialize in a way that conformed to society, not necessarily ways that were always initially comfortable to me.

It feels as though it has no soul
That’s because it’s a story about a bunch of emotionally broken dragons who were career quitters and their spoiled but less evolved angry cousins. Just enjoy the sharing of feelings, emotions, and inclusion. Unless you are a primal apparently… We kill them.

You know what makes me sad? People that play WoW that apparently still haven’t discovered the fact other games exist.

Eh.
You’re right, but if someone is looking for something SIMILAR to WoW, they’re really in a tough spot. MMORPGs aren’t exactly all the rage anymore.
FFXIV is the closest comparable thing, and frankly it just lacks in comparison if you’re an endgame-centric player. The journey is interesting if you enjoy the story being told, but that only lasts so long.
ESO is boring as hell and I figure mostly appeals to die-hard TES fans.
Eve is it’s own weird niche thing that won’t appeal to Fantasy RPG fans.
Runescape is a second monitor game and doesn’t hit that hard if you don’t have nostalgia for it.
GW2 is a story game pretending to be an MMO. The world events are done well but that doesn’t add much longevity. Buy the expansions to play through HoT’s story and then set it down IMO.
Idk. If what you want is a PvE-centric MMO with a decent population, your options are just really, really limited, to the point that moving on from gaming ends up being the response if you truly don’t care about anything else.
That’s not likely to change unless MMOs make a comeback, and that’s incredibly unlikely unless VR becomes the norm (which is nowhere near happening, and would likely attract a different audience than the current MMO audience).
Also worth noting that long-time MMO players tend to be a little older than the average gaming audience. WoW is FULL of people in their mid 30s at this point in its cycle. Runescape is the same way. FFXIV is a little younger but still very much adults on average.
If you go running through popular game’s today, you’re going to be constantly paired with 13 year olds. That’s not inherently a problem, but it’s going to be harder to get into a game’s community or whatever when your age bracket isn’t the norm there.
I love Lethal Company, for example. But every other lobby has at least one kid between like 7 and 14.
