than FF does.
FF races all pretty much look alike. I think that’s dumb. More games need more tauren, orc and furry races.
That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

Sure but you and 70% of the horde player base plays blood elves which look very human like.
I also play tauren, orc and have a goblin. Just one goblin. Being that short is unnerving.
I mostly have BEs, true. Mogs look best on them, they have the best animations too, imo.
I still love my tauren though. She’s the cutest.
So really your argument doesn’t hold much weight when we all play mostly elves anyway.
People like playing as elves and humans in any fantasy game
Oh, I agree that it doesn’t have a huge variety of what they look like.
Just that what they look like is far better.
Sure people like playing elves but people also like variety. FF doesn’t have the variety that WoW does.
Idk about New World yet, haven’t seen that much of it but so far it looks like it’s mostly humans, if not all humans.
I mean, if WoW is anything to go by, variety isn’t wanted by the majorit. The most played races are elves and humans by a lot and the least played races are the furry races.
I think FF could be better if they offered more playable race variety.
That’s all.
Expanding the CC would be good for sure, but the race variety - those that are high in demand - is already being delivered. Though, we’ve also heard they’re making female Hrothgar too.
Are those the cat people? I kinda liked them but I’m more comfortable playing a female character and they didn’t have those, just the males.
Yep. The lion girls cometh.
Not really. And your own faction wouldn’t even agree with you. 75% of the horde is belf lmao.
We need updated character models.
Ah, that’ll be good then. Do you know when?
I would agree with this. The playable races look very unique, and have unique abilities. In FF they all look roughly the same and their only difference is adjusted stats.
THAT being said, WoW probably interacts with the different races in a better way as well. Starting zones which are unique to each race that also expand on their lore and story. This continues throughout the expansions.
In FF you aren’t your race you are your class and job, which doesn’t give you a lot of depth besides, that one is short, that one is tall and that one has horns. Not a lot of development in FF.
We don’t know right now. They’re releasing male Viera - the bunny race - which is very high in requests by players.
Actually listening to players and giving them what is most requested is… quite refreshing. Especially as an Alliance player after we got our AR…
based on race population I’d argue they don’t.
Even orcs, aside from being green, with the upright posture now they’re very human like.
Well yes and no. In WoW, it’s all about exclusivity and the races are all distinct (for the most part) and largely separate. In FFXIV they’re designed to meld together, and while there are various “tribes” - the sun cats (each race has two subraces, which change cosmetic things and also lore) for example are largely insular and native tribes that are patriarchal in hierarchy with one alpha, whereas the moon cats are the opposite - a matriarchal society based around the mother and their family that is largely in the woods of Gridania but have lately joined the city-state itself. The sun cats tend to have more traditional skin from pale to dark, with cat irises, whereas the moon cats tend to have pale skin that can go all the way to dark blue or grey, with fangs and round irises. Cosmetics aside - which is leaps and bounds above WoW’s - this is just their origin.
The city-states, the three big ones, all offer the playable character a different roleplay experience and the characters in them a different culture. A midlander (human) that lives in La Noscea may talk more like a sailor or pirate and live on the water, whereas another of the same race may live in Gridania and be more spiritual and more well versed.
It’s really neat. That’s not really the same as WoW’s design.
I heard about that, how there’s lots of similarities between FF and WoW but with the main play style, FF is more an rpg first and WoW is more an mmo first, if that makes sense.
Anyway, I wasn’t going to bother with any other mmos but then I heard FF has player housing and I wanted to try that out so that’s what I’ll be doing next month.
Ty for the info about the races. Much appreciated…
Soon.
In 6.0 Male Vierra are being added. All we know is female Hrothgar are being added some time after that.
