I would like to start this rant off with this is not the “classic” or the “vanilla” nor the “original” experience that you would get. This tale of epic misery would only be described as a mix of Diablo hardcore and Dark Souls combined, with flares of survivalist games engaging the player with critical choices and life and death situations. Im also talking about PVP servers not PVE because… c’mon who wants to play a PvE server?? ; - )
I want to start a discussion; give ideas to what you have in mind…
I.E.
-death…open discussion…(especially PVP)
-must eat food/water otherwise health/mana degenerates. (Hunger/Thirst)
-can not invite unless within sight range of person
-XP gain… Dark Souls like with “bonfires” as crucial checkpoints
-Nutural Zones Ratchet/moonglade/gagetzan/everlook…ect… No PvP?
-Dungeons… 3 Life max? or would that be over played n create 2 death insta quit.

-“Oh $H!t” CD’s… I.E. Vanish… Feign Death… Divine Intervention.
-Resurrection… Pally, Priest, Shammy, Druid. One time use? Quest? Dungeon Drop Reagent?
-Hunter/Warlock Pets…don’t really have anything just wanted to put this here.
-Quests…More XP for faster level with the danger of death any point?
-Mage AoE …well u can try but its your funeral…don’t mess up.
Im sure there is many of many things you can add to this, there is no wrong answers, no bad ideas, just a flowing of ideas on how this could become something more than just a simple thought into something much…much… more…
Over haul the honor system. Basically make WSG & WPvP feasible by leveling out the honor gained from AC.
On death all your gear/items drop to your corpse rendering it lootable by other players. All of it. With the exception of BGs & Duels. If another player does loot, they will be rendered a criminal; more on this later.
Players can attack others in the same faction.
Implement a criminal system for those that commit criminal acts on their own faction. When players commit a crime they are rendered attackable for a time-period and others may kill them without repercussions. After killing a threshold of player in the same faction, you will be rendered a murder in which all NPCs will consider you an enemy except for BB, Everlook & Gadgetzen.
nah keep it simple guys, perma death only. no BGs. That would be fun AF. Maybe some reward for killing opposite faction, honor that u can spend on stuff.
Yeah, I don’t see why that would be necessary either.
One of the things that Diablo II Hardcore has that would be somewhat interesting to implement for a HC mode WoW is deletion prevention. That is, you can exit the game quickly, in order to not die. If that were implemented in WoW, then the only other things I think that would be desirable to add/change for a HC mode would be:
Some change to the quest(s) that require you to be dead, such as an elixir of ghost form, or something
Removal/overhaul of spawn points?
A major difference though between D2, and WoW is items binding. In Diablo II items are all important. In WoW, it started with the character being all important, and shifted to everything being account bound. Account-wide rewards are quite possibly the single point of blame for what some dislike about Retail.
As good of an argument as this is, there are no account-wide rewards in Diablo II, and people still play Hardcore mode. I have always guessed that it is less popular than regular mode, but I’m not sure.
There may be some people who play certain things only for in-game rewards, but there are definitely others whose motivation comes from elsewhere.
