Wow Guide Stat Priority

Why does it feel like the gear I’m getting is awful. The icy veins guide (Sub Rogue) suggested haste as my number one stat priority. At level 80 I was at 28% which felt good but now at 90 I’m down to 7% and haste seems scarce. Is this just unlucky or pretty common?

I dunno much about Rogue, specifically. I rarely play mine. And nobody knows a lot about Midnight yet.

But it’s pretty common to hit your max at first in a new expansion feeling like a soggy balloon - that’s what motivates you to seek out gear upgrades.

I remember that from TWW, from DF, from Shadowlands, BfA … BfA was actually worse, with the shattering de-scaling that happend at … 115 I think. Or maybe 116? And then the painful climb to 120, through which you actually got less powerful all the way.

I was in the middle of a big AoE pull on the Docks when I dinged 115, and for a few seconds I actually thought my PC was dying, things slowed down so much. And then for the rest of the levels, things actually got slower, which was hard to believe.

BfA was the first scaling-based levelling. Since then, they didn’t drop the bombshell quite so hard at one spot, just progressive weakening all the way, with the biggest drop in the last level.

So yeah, it’s a regular feature of hitting max in a new expansion. Worse for squishy classes, ofc. But it makes gearing up feel good over the next couple of weeks.

Here’s a filtered WowHead item list for gear a Rogue might use that has +Haste. It’s like 150 items, although some might be swords (so no good for your spec).

https://www.wowhead.com/items/side:3/class:4/role:1/slot:16:5:8:11:10:1:7:21:2:22:3:12:6:9?filter=166:103;12:1;0:0#items;0-14+20

This reinforces to me what @Gráinne said about player power so early in the season. Haste rating on most of that list is pretty anemic, but once you start getting into epic gear it seems to pick up pretty strongly. Like, 10 times more Haste rating, and that’s on Champion-track stuff.
