If you change how macros work… then I’m not sure this is an issue? No more “I Win” buttons was the goal.

That would be my answer to the problem and the fact that Blizzard didn’t do that suggests to me that Blizzard’s spaghetti code prevents them from fixing this.
I wouldn’t assume that, I’d more likely assume they don’t see a point because it could cause other issues or get them sued for accessibility reasons.
That said I don’t see why they couldn’t limit a macro to one ability (e.g. something that applies an aura) per macro.
Even then, though. Do you remember the 3:2 steadyshot macro? That was so broken. I loved it.
I hate the GCD in WoW way more than FFXIV’s GCD.
People always cite FFXIV’s GCD as being locked at 2.5 seconds. This is untrue on a bunch of different levels and many jobs in FFXIV in fact lower it to 2 seconds. Such as best in slot samurai and monk sets sometimes really do aim for ~2.0 second GCD.
But WoW vs. FFXIV that I am struggling to get over is that WoW doesn’t do ANYTHING in it’s GCD. Which is why I am struggling to like some of the classes here even though I might normally like them.
Eg: Resto shaman. It feels way slower than any healer in FFXIV because there is nothing off the GCD (ancestral visions or w/e I think is? Big whoop.). Where I’d expect an Astrologian’s essential dignity burst heal shaman’s riptide burst heal is still on GCD. It feels SOOOOOOOO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWx x_x;
AST especially can keep malefic going on the GCD and weave in cards, major AOE heals, spot heals, etc etc all between the GCD.
This is why I’ve struggled to hard to identify a healer main. And I wish WoW had a different design philosophy for GCD. It is overbearing here to the point where even if it is technically “1 second faster” it doesn’t feel it.
Like I compare my machinist with it’s overheated state which does lower the gcd of “heat blast” to 1.5 seconds-- I am weaving in that 1.5 second GCD ricochet or gauss round. NOTHING in WoW has been as fast. NOTHING. I’ve tried almost every class and spec in PTR.
I really hope the devs change their approach.

I can’t say I do, but my point is that even hunter /petattack
macros should be fine. It only becomes an issue with /castsequence
or similar ability stacks like you used to be able to do. Target modifiers and conditionals should be fine insofar as you only execute one ability per execution.

GCD is perfectly fine thank you very much. You people asked, begged and demanded for more spells, you got more spells, now deal with the consequences.

More spells isn’t the issue, even now most classes here have rotations involving 3 buttons. I’d feel challenged to find anyone say BM hunter, frost mage, fire mage, arcane mage, guardian druid, etc etc have challenging rotations.
The problem is for some of the classes the GCD makes them feel agonizingly slow. There’s just nothing to do between frostbolt spams on mage for instance on PTR.

Frost has been agonizingly boring since Vanilla, it would take more than GCD changes to make it dynamic.
Which is funny because FF14 has classes that have like, 12 ability long chain combos without it feeling like the number of abilities slows the job down.

GCD is good because it’s more realistic.

one thing I’ve noticed, some classes abilities don’t flow well. Looking at you pistol shot.

Monk… it… it’s savage. I don’t think anyone that plays monk properly thinks it’s slow especially not with almost 2.0 GCD BiS. It’s insane. Even I struggle to keep up and I’m regarded as the summoner guy by some people
In other news; Another user proclaims their love of FF on the wow forums!

Pistol shot should be off the GCD while you have the buff IMO.

Honestly I wish that they would add more to off GCD.
Like to start: Shaman’s totems. ALL of them. Every single one. They are a perfect ideal off GCD in my mind.
