There was a time that the playerbase would suggest and rant things to Devs and ideas were chatted about.
aaaaahhhhhhh the forums have changed. nobody looks or comes to the forums anymore. so the posters on the forums are kinda a club or organization that likes cringe and argue (like court) their cases and troll etc.
the 20-30 regulars in the forums are just a grain of sand on the beach and DO NOT represent the player base as a whole.
There was a time when communities like Elitist Jerks and Tankspot did a bunch of theorycrafting, and mathed out the numbers, and created addons. The discussions were actually productive, not just “I like this because political or religious reasons.”
A lot of those players ended up working for Blizzard.
Back then, it also seemed like nerdier (intelligent, studious) players liked this gaming genre, computer games, and computers in general. Now those types of people are probably more into coding, while the playerbase is a lot of older green leaf enjoyers that complain about everything.
There have been active discussions about gdkp for years on the forums, but a few posts on reddit and icy veins is writing an article about gdkp coming back.
The forums is just a place for people to have conversations about how right they are on their 20 alts
Every great once in a while (I think by accident) someone comes by looking for legitimate advice or help and gets real answers then leaves, hopefully to never return, thinking the forums were a good thing. For them, that one single time, they were correct. The rest of us know the truth however and just continue on in our collective filth
